This is a poem I wrote that kind-of ties into the Erik/Christine romance-tragedy. I wrote it based on my own life, then I realized it was perfect for the POTO story line. It fits in at the end of the ALW movie, when Christine chooses Raoul over Erik, and it's a soliloquy-type free verse from Erik's point of view. I hope you like it.

Forgotten

Christine, I would have loved.

Oh, God, how I would have loved you,

If you had given me the chance,

If you had given me time.

I tried. How I did try

To sway your favor,

To win your passion, but

Always I was spurned.

I never could seem to be

Enough, for you;

Strong enough, dark enough,

Passionate or bold enough.

And so I waited, and watched,

And loved with my entire being.

Saw you love another.

Felt my heart breaking.

For you did not know,

You never understood

How I felt for you, and still feel,

Though I so often tried to show you.

So I saw you from afar,

Just a shadow, always near,

Until you moved away, moved on,

And I was left, heart shattered, behind.

Sometimes I think of you still,

Heart hammering in my chest,

Tears sliding softly down

Past grim and silent lips.

And I curse your name,

Even as I hold you dear to me,

As I think of times we had,

And times that never were.

Christine, I would have loved.

Oh, God, how I would have loved you,

If you had given me the chance,

If you had given me time.

But you have gone,

And I am lost.

Nothing is as it should have been.

Because I would have loved.

And you did not.
