Slytherin against Gryffindor: Love, Friendship and Betrayal Book 1
*This story takes place 10 years before the birth of Harry Potter. This book is based on the time of Lily and James Potter, and told on the point of view of two friends, Montague Kane and Lars Pendelton.
Chapter 1-
It was a very stormy night by Spinners End. Two friends Montague Kane, and Lars Pendelton were in Montague parents' house. Montague and Lars were friends since before they could talk. Lars's parents, Mary and Robert were both Gryffindor's. Along with Doreen and Micheal, Montague's parents. Our story really starts with the night Lars and Montague got their Hogwarts letters. Both had much potential, and they had shown it.
Once Montague was only 8, he grabbed his mom's wand, and cleaned a chair that he spilt his dinner all over. His mom was ecstatic, and made him his favorite dessert.
Once Lars was 6, he was walking through a muggle playground. He was with Montague, and both were jumping through tires, and Lars got to the middle of the tire laying on the playground, but without jumping. He had floated. That got the muggles attention, and Mary and Doreen instantly grabbed the boys, and never came back.
But now, they are 11 years of age. The date is August 1st, 1970. The storm was taking its toll on the area. But nonetheless, Owls had made it to the house that Montague lived in. They all gathered around Montague's fireplace, which Doreen instantly put on fire. Mary grabbed the letters, and gave them to Montague and Lars. Both of them read off.
"Dear Mr. Kane,"
"We are pleased to inform you, that you have been accepted to Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardly."
They read on, reading about the books they would need, and pets they could choose.
Montague was more ecstatic then Lars, and often teased him because he used a wand once. Lars always countered with his ability to float before that. They were good friends, best of friends. They hoped there friendship would last forever.
Mary knew it would take a while to gather all the books and sort, so she decided to go to Diagon Alley, with Doreen, leaving Montague and Lars together.
"So, Montague," Lars said, very enthusiastically. "We final get to go to Hogwarts in 29 days!"
Montague smiled too. "I wonder what house I will be in?" Montague looked out his window, the flood from the previous night, drying away with the hot sun.
"Well, all our parents in Gryffindor," Lars said. He could tell that Montague was nervous when he made that comments. "What's wrong Montague?"
"Nothing," Montague said. There was something bothering him. "Alright," Montague shrugged. "I am worried I'll be something else besides a Slytherin."
"Well," Lars pointed out. Lars always loved to be the one who sounded smarter. "Hufflepuff isn't bad," Lars paused to see Montagues reaction. "Neither is Ravenclaw"
Montague shrugged and walked away, and into his room. Montague knew nobody would understand, he felt he may be sorted to Slytherin, it was something he was very consumed with the whole month of August.
