One bright morning in Tarrytown Airport, the young planes were bored and had nothing to do, so Snuffy came with a proposition.

"How about we go to Echo Canyon?" He suggested. "We could hold a contest to see who could do the loudest echo!"

Tracy and Jay Jay were for the plan to go ahead, but Herky didn't feel very keen on it at all. He felt afraid, because the last time he went there, he had caused an accident involving Jay Jay and Tracy.

"I... I think I'll stay here." He said nervously. "I've got a lot to do."

The others were not convinced, but they agreed to go on anyway.

Herky sighed as he watched them leave. He felt bad as he had lied to them, but he was too afraid to go to Echo Canyon. He turned away, and flew off to Brenda Blue's workshop.

Brenda was sympathetic when he revealed that he was too afraid to go to the canyon.

"Why do you feel afraid Herky?" She asked him, not unkindly.

"I don't want to get anyone hurt again." He explained sadly.

"But Herky, you can't let something like that prevent you from being with your friends." She said. It was an accident, Herky and they have forgiven you."

"I know. I'm just really afraid..." the helicopter admitted.

"Why don't you go and talk to them?" Brenda suggested. I'm sure they'll understand."

Herky thought for a moment.

"Alright, I suppose I can." He said. "Thanks Brenda – I'll go there right away!"

He took off and made his way to Echo Canyon.

He arrived at the canyon before long, where his friends were preparing for the contest.

"Herky- I thought you weren't coming." Jay Jay said, confused.

I know, but I have something to tell you. He confessed.

So he spilled the reason why he didn't want to go to Echo Canyon initially.

"That's really how you felt?" Tracy asked him in surprise.

"Yes – I'm sorry I didn't tell you before."

"That's okay." Jay Jay said. "We're sorry we never noticed your feelings before now, Herky."

"It's fine." The helicopter replied.

"So are you gonna join us?" Snuffy asked him.

"Yeah!" Herky exclaimed happily.

"Only we'll all be more careful and have fun!" Jay Jay added.
