Nate Wood sat on the couch, staring longingly at the family mural on the family room's wall. He was very different from the rest of his family. His mother Natalie had tanned skin, long and wavy dark brown hair and hazel eyes. His father Jeremiah was African-American, with frizzy black hair and deep brown eyes. His little brother and sister, Kiah and Sam looked almost exactly like their father, except their hair was slightly lighter, and Sam had his mother's eyes. Nate shared no resemblance with either. He had dirty blonde hair, pale skin and blue eyes.

He knew Natalie was his mother, she showed him many baby pictures with them together, and there was a birth announcement in the newspaper. The weird thing was the fact that his father was never mentioned. And his mother had been single for the first few years of his life. But every time he asked about his father, he was shunned away.

Nate took a deep breath. "Let's try again", he said to himself. He found Natalie doing laundry in the basement. Hesitating, he walked up to his mother.

"Mom, Be honest. Who is my father?".

Natalie tensed up. She dropped the clothes, and went upstairs, not giving Nate a single glance.

Nate sighed. "My real father is somewhere out there"he said to himself, "And I'll find him. I will".

Charlie Swan stared at his food. Like everything, it reminded him of his daughter. "My Bells" he thought, clenching his teeth. "Not the Cullen's". He never liked the fact that Bella married Edward Cullen, the fact that she adopted a child (even though he loved Nessie with all his heart),... and now she disappeared off the face of the earth, along with the other Cullens. It was too much, happening too fast. The telephone's loud ring shook Charlie out of his thoughts.

"This is Charlie Swan, Chief of the Forks Police Department, How can I help you?", he said in a professional tone. "Oh", he said suddenly. It was his sister, Natalie.

"Well, why haven't you told him? He's definitely old enough to know". Charlie's nephew, Nathan was almost sixteen and Charlie was surprised to find out that Nate didn't know who his father was.

"You should tell him soon. He probably already has his suspicions" Charlie paused, and then added, "Being a teenager and all, I would be surprised if he isn't already looking". He heard a faint click as Natalie hung up.

Like everything else, Nate reminded him of his own daughter. But this time, Charlie was focused on something else. He picked up the phone again, and dialed a number.

"Hello, I'm Chief Swan of the Forks Police Department, Does Gregory House work here?".

All my chapters are quite short...So don't bug me about it...I try the best I can. Please review! I'd like to see if this one is worthy of another chapter...Actually, no matter what, I'm at least making two chapters...
