Author's Note: I felt sad. So as a result of me getting distracted+Jeyna feels+getting depressed over upcoming exams=HERATBREAKING JEYNA DRABBLE! I wanted to try out writing angst too. And the quote was really nice...Anyway, this is what got produced.

I was actually trying to write the tenth chapter of ToD and I ended up writing an angsty drabble. Oh, the irony of it.

Okay, I own the quote. (It's true.) So, I don't need to put a disclaimer for that, BUT...

Disclaimer: No, I do not own Jason or Reyna or PJO or HoO.

Stars came first before city lights.

She was the first.

The first girl who truly mattered in his life, or so she was told.

She was his first kiss.

His first crush.

His first equal.

His first everything.

But it wasn't always like that.

She hated him. The feeling wasn't mutual.

They became friends and rivals.

And maybe they had wanted to be more.

He wanted her, everyone could tell.

But almost none (even herself) could tell she secretly wanted him too.

They were equal to each other.

They were almost everything together. Enemies, rivals, best friends, and almost even lovers.

The bond between them was unbreakable no matter how often they fought.

He got her back. She got his, too.

It was a simple, undeniable fact they both knew.

She could count on him. He can count on her.

He confided in her. He would trust his life with her.

She found her will to never give her trust slipping. She came to trust him with her life, too.

He seemed so perfect. But she knows he isn't.

She seemed so invincible. But he knows she isn't.

She would scream at him sometimes. And he didn't hesitate to scream back, causing both of them to scream at each other.

He made her smile, laugh, and cry.

He made her fall for him even though she never knew.

Sometimes, they would sneak out to watch the night on top of their hill.

The city of New Rome was brightly lit with all the brilliant lights. It was beautiful, more beautiful than anything else.

But he was different. He disagreed with them.

He preferred the few stars that still twinkle amongst the inky night sky and the ones that her eyes seemed to capture.

Then he was gone.

Gone from her life. Gone from her world.

She searched so hard.

But so hard wasn't enough.

She searched so long.

And she could go on searching forever.

She kept her head high so her mask won't fall off.

Every night, when New Rome sleeps and no one heard a peep, she would sob quietly on her bed, clutching all that she had left of him. Memories.

Why? How?

She would ask herself repeatedly.

She never got her answers.

Until he came back.

Back to Camp Jupiter. Back to her.

But he came back with her.

He came back with her, hanging onto his arm and laughing together naturally.

She was beautiful. She was everything. Everything everyone wanted to be.

Her heart broke even more than it already was and could.

He greeted her personally afterwards, awkwardly trying to explain.

She just nodded coldly at him with an icy smile and sent him away.

It was her duty, after all.

She will not break.

She cannot break for the sake of Rome.

It hurt him, she knew.

But he had already caused more damage than he could ever repair.

It didn't matter, now.

She doesn't know him. He was a stranger as she is to him.

They weren't and aren't anything.

Just strangers with memories.

Because the him that she knew was different.

Because now all he sees is the bright city lights, just like everybody else.

And the stars slowly faded into the vast midnight sky.

Author's Note: What do you think? Was it good? Did you like the quote? Should I feel proud of myself?

Anyway, I'm surprised I can write angst. I'm always smiling. :D
