Title: Not So Bad Afterall
Fandom: Hellcats
Prompt: Louis surprises Marti by remembering a minor (stupid) anniversary.Spoilers: All episodes apply for S1.
Summary: A one-shot written for my '12 Days of Promptsmas' on livejournal.
Marti dislikes anniversaries. Always has, and for some odd reason, she figures that she always will. It doesn't mean that she'll turn down the attention, free gifts, and even the giddy feeling that comes along when people remember special days.
That being said, there is a limit. Marti draws the line at small anniversaries. Like first kiss, or first time holding hands… Yeah, someone tried to celebrate that one with her. She told Savannah of it once ("Yeah, we were 13 and he seemed to think that we should celebrate the fact that it was the 10th time we held hands… It was also the last."); And Savannah thought it was incredibly sweet. Although she'd never admit it to her best friend, Marti threw up a little in her mouth.
So when Lewis comes to her a year after they started dating, and says that it's a special day, Marti's immediate thoughts go back to that fateful day when she broke up with Tyler Westen. Taking a breath, she asks him why it's special, and Lewis blushes.
"It's the anniversary of the first time I caught you." He comments awkwardly. Marti's floored, and caught between emotions. She feels like it's nothing special, because let's face it, in the grand scheme of life, Marti does not remember things like these. But she's also awed that Lewis remembered something. Clearly, it's meant a lot to him over the year. It takes her a minute to formulate a thought of any sort before she gives him a soft smile.
"How do you remember that?" She asks carefully. Obviously, a year of dating Lewis has made her soft, changed the fact that she hates small anniversaries. Shrugging slightly, Lewis glances down at his feet.
"I remember, because it was probably one of the best days of my life." When Marti gives him a curious glance, that wordlessly asks him to explain, he shrugs again. "It was the day that I knew you trusted me completely not to hurt you." She feels her breath catch in her throat, and she blinks while taking a deep breath.
"Oh Lewis…" Marti murmurs as she hugs him tightly.
Small anniversaries? Still lame… The execution and presentation of them? Yeah, Marti thinks she can get used to them, or at least tolerate them.
