Harry Potter and His Secret Way of Healing

Chapter 1
Harry tried to go to sleep but thought after guilty thought plagued him keeping him awake. Cedric's death, ….and of course there were the constant thoughts of what occurs at the Dursleys every summer. He didn't pity himself for it – there must of course be some reason that he was undergoing the beatings. There was always something that provoked the Dursleys to do what they did. Scars covered his body from the near-daily beatings that he suffered through. If only he could do better…if only he could be unnoticeable and just do what they asked of him…he was just so frustrated at never measuring up – no matter what he did it was never good enough, there was always more to ask from him.
Harry rummaged through his trunk and found the knife that Sirius had given him. It reminded him of his godfather and the happy memories that he had brought to Harry's life so far. Harry examined the knife to keep his mind off the guilt and pain that was weighing him down. He flipped the knife open to look at the blade. Harry pressed the tip of his finger to the blade just slightly to check how sharp it was still. A drop of blood formed on his finger: still perfectly sharp. "There must be some charm on it to keep it like new" Harry thought.
As the pain welled up inside Harry he pressed the blade to his arm. He liked the idea of him being the one that was in control of his pain; only he could determine how much pain he felt or where the scars landed…that wasn't true of course but he could imagine if only for a few moments. Harry pushed the blade down slightly and dragged it across his arm. A line of blood appeared and it was as if a wave of relief washed over Harry. He transferred his emotional pain and grief to physical pain that he could control.
Harry felt significantly more relaxed. He cleaned the blade and put it away for the night. The memories had subsided enough for Harry to drift off into a deep sleep.
