A/N: This story is a short drabble. It's an, uhm, weird story that is supposed to have a certain point? Ah well….enjoy!
Seto Kaiba and Katsuya Jounouchi are as different as night and day. Seto is a child of the night, whilst Jou is a child of the light. People look at them, and see the differences. But they only see the differences. If they were to look closer, they would see that similarities can be found in differences.
Concerning their past, they both had an abusive parental figure in their life, one Jou still has. Gazoburo might have been Seto's stepfather, but he was family nonetheless. The only difference here is how they both dealt with it. Seto became cold and distant, detached from people. Jou remained cheerful and optimistic, finding support with his friends. They dealt with it different because of their personality and circumstances.
Seto and Jou are both older brothers, with younger siblings. They both love them very much and are very close to them. They're both protective and would do just about anything for them. The only differences here are that Seto has a younger brother and Jou has a younger sister. The second difference is that Jou and Shizuka were split up at a young age, while Seto and Mokuba have always been together.
They both have a very different personality, but also traits that are the same. They are both defiant, and will never back down. They can both be arrogant and full of themselves. They don't run away from their problems, but face them head on. They are both passionate about what they believe in, and caring and protective when it comes to their siblings. They're both stubborn as hell. You probably won't find any more head strong individuals then them.
Perhaps in these differences lie the roots for why they hate each other? Perhaps, because they reflect each other in certain ways and see that they aren't as different from the other as they would like is why they both despise each other.
Sometimes, you don't like people, because they are different from you, or resemble you in such a way that they reflect things about yourself that you don't like. Be it your personality or certain habits, it doesn't really matter.
The fact is that instead of focussing on the differences, people should also see the similarities. Because where similarities can be found in differences, for example in a culture, you'll find that similarities are what bind people together, what makes bonds.
Differences are what make the world colourful, but similarities are what makes people understand and accept each other.
We are all unique in our own way. But if you look close enough, though, you'll notice that people aren't as different from one another as it would seem.
Okay, I know, I don't need to hear it. This fic is stupid and rather pointless:P, but I still like it…somehow?
