It has been well over two years since Mei have succeeded in battling the elite four and achieved the title of the new Unova champion. As a well grown teenager now, she leads a busier life than most people. She receives dozens of fan letters every day, would be interviewed by different broadcast stations every other day, and hosts a radio show every week! But despite all the glory and fame, she still does not neglect her duties to train her Pokémon and spend time with her mother.

Slamming her door shut, Mei flops onto her bed as she takes off her usual trademark visor. Another exhausting day. She stretches her arm and flicked on the switch to the radio. Unexpectedly one of her favorite songs, Someone Like You, was on. The bittersweet melody left Mei feeling a bit heavyhearted, and lonely. Of her years of being Unova's champion, no time had been left for her to date, or even go on one. She couldn't believe how time flies, it felt as if it was only yesterday when she started her journey, along with Hyuu.

Her thoughts were rudely interrupted by the loud doorbell. Hearing her mother's chattering amongst the corridor, she hears another familiar voice.

Hyuu?! She swiftly turns off her radio and races herself in front of the mirror to adjusts her disheveled hair…but stops abruptly. When did I care start caring so much for Hyuu? It's just Hyuu! She shook off the thought.

It wasn't long before Hyuu barged into her room. "Yo." He said, making himself comfortable on Mei's bed. It seemed like forever since Mei have taken the time to hang out with her childhood friend. She took a good look at Hyuu's face and replied with a big grin. "It's been long eh? How have you been? I missed you ha-ha." The response wasn't what she thought, Hyuu glances off to his left and said, "Yeah, since you're too busy now." It wasn't sarcasm in his voice. Trying her best to release the tension, Mei decides to change the topic.

"So how are you and your girlfriend?" Hyuu have been in his first relationship for a month now to be exact. Given that Mei is his best friend, she had the priorities to know the details. "We broke up." Hyuu replied nonchalantly. Eyes widening, Mei questioned, "What? Why?" He didn't answer right away, instead, he gives a quick shrug. But she wasn't about to give up yet, "You can tell me, I'm here to listen you know. And I care, you know that." Hyuu looks at her right in the eye, his red eyes almost piercing through her. "You really want to know?" He then stands up, with Mei doing the same, she nodded. Stepping a bit closer to her, his shaky hand rested on her shoulder. She tilted her head up to look at him, even as best friends, never have they been so intimate. She can feel the warmth of his body and their faces so close they were almost touching.

"It's because I…I realized I'm still…" He started, his gaze wavering as if he was holding back on something. "….…N-never mind, you're too dense to understand." Hyuu casually sits back down on her bed. Mei on the other hand, still not recovering from her heavily blushed face, mutters something along the lines of needing fresh air and dashes out the room, leaving Hyuu to himself.

He lightly smacks on his forehead. "Next time, next time for sure."
