- He loved; she didn't.

-

He sat still; the room's shadows were dark and crowded around him, melding in with his black, pressed suit. His azure eyes were slanted and staring hard at the lit computer screen. Nothing was on it except the usual black screen saver. He swept a hand gently through the gelled blonde hair, and he tilted his head contemplatively.

It wasn't his nature to let something like this get the better of him.

He shut his eyes and placed a finger on his temple.

He could feel his heart twist painfully, and he let out a sigh.

It was no longer infatuation.

Placing a hand onto his chest, he could feel the rhythmic beats, even when he tried to hold in his breath.

B-bmp, B-bmp, B-bmp--

"I guess this is what everyone would call Love," he laughed softly.

-

He had always wondered when it would be when he would find his love...

"He took me out to this really cute restaurant!" an employee squealed. He only looked curiously at her as he passed by, hands in his pockets. There were more excited squeals filling the business office.

He sighed inwardly before turning away, a small smile on his face. Not at all hearing the whispers that were following him.

'Look! It's Suoh-san...'

'Hmm...I wonder if I ask him, maybe he'll go out with me.'

'He's twenty-five year old and still single? That's hard to believe since he's really cute!'

The blonde turned the corner and into a quieter hallway.

Bzzt--

He brought out a cell phone from his pocket and put it to his ear. "Suoh Tamaki, speaking," he said professionally. He paused slightly, his pace almost came to a halt.

"Ah...Kyouya...you're here..." Tamaki breathed in relief, quickly abandoning his previous tone. "Great...meet me in the second lounge on the fifth floor?" A moment passed and his eyes widened in surprise. "Eh? You brought your secretary too? You didn't have to! I just wanted to check up on something--"

He was interrupted abruptly.

"Ah...yes… of course."

but he never thought that it wouldn't be easy…

-

She was there, her back to him, her hands on the white rails. The wind swept through her brown locks, sweeping the short bangs against her face. She looked out and stared at the lake water's disturbance by the wind, unaware of his presence.

He stood afar, eyes clouded over, and thoughts haunting his very mind. He was gripped with a sense of despair. She'd reject him again…but…maybe…maybe if he tried…

He swallowed thickly, his hands gripping the bouquet of roses he had handpicked from his rose garden. It had taken him the whole day to gather the budding beauties, though perhaps… it would be worth it. He faintly could remember what Kyouya had told him--

"Only a fool would chase after a woman that has no interest in love."

But maybe...his constant efforts have melted her heart. If she had saw how much time he had put aside from his busy schedule to attend to her… maybe he would have a chance.

He faced her back, and strands of his blonde hair-- tad sloppy from the wind-- flickered in the wind. He bit his lower lip and drew onto his courage. He will do this.

"Haruhi..." he started, a smile adorning his lips. She gave a nonchalant glance over her shoulder, before turning around, meeting his eyes.

She understood what he was there for; how he smiled at her lovingly yet distantly. 'How annoying,' she thought. The brunette lowered her eyes down to his bouquet and then up to his eyes, uninterested.

"I told you a million times."

Again--

"I don't like you."

His smile dropped quietly, he didn't hold an argument. No matter… he has felt this heartbreaking moment before.

The bouquet of flowers fell loose in his hands.

- Many times…

Scarlet, rose petals dropped onto the floor of the bridge.

he was

- But it felt as if it was just all too new…

She shook her head and walked past him, her shoes crushing a rose petal.

"I never liked you, Tamaki-san."
