Disclaimer: I do not own Haven or its characters.
Ten minutes away from Lucy Ripley's house, Audrey Parker stops her car.
It's impossible to ignore the question that she has been asking herself since Nathan gave her the address- does she really want to do this?
This is what she has wanted to do all this time- to find answers, to find out who she really is, why she is here, how she is part of all this, what she can do to help. The key to the mystery box is right in her lap.
But now a part of her is scared- some doors can't be kicked shut once they are opened. What if this secret changes everything, destroy the way she looks at herself and at the world?
So what if she can't remember who she really is? As far as she's concerned, sitting here inside her car in the middle of nowhere, with her mind thinking about Haven again and again, all she knows is she is… she. Does she really care why she is in Haven? It's her home now; it's the place where she belongs, where her heart is.
And she made a promise to Nathan, she promised to come back. She wants to come back, wants to go back and take it up from where they left it. They aren't just partners, not anymore. And she wouldn't just let it go. She doesn't remember if she has ever felt this way about someone before, but she doesn't care either. All she cares about is the fact that Nathan is there in Haven, and she wants nothing more than to go back there.
But what if the secret she is about to uncover keeps her from doing that? What if she's stuck, what if she can't get to him? What if what happened to her 27 years back happens to her again?
No, she tells herself. She doesn't remember how last time was, but she knows this isn't like it at all.
Because this time she has Nathan. She knows that even if things go wrong, even if she can't come back, he will search for her, and he will find her, no matter where she is and what it takes. It's Nathan.
A smile lights up her face. It's true, it's Nathan, he's there, he will always be there.
She starts the engine again. She can't wait to get it over with and get back home.
A/N: my first Haven one-shot. Reviews are much appreciated. Thank you.
