Disclaimer: I do not own Kaze Hikaru… If I did, Okita would be with Sei already.

Okita's POV

"Then I will take her and make her my wife," said Saitou seriously.

My heart skipped a beat. Jealousy flared. No way was this happening! How did he find out? I pasted a fake smile on my face, one of my many masks.

"That's great. So Kamiya-san is a girl?" I asked stupidly. 'It's alright….I'm not worthy of her…'

"Obviously, if she wasn't, I would not have said WIFE. Besides, whether she is a guy or a girl, it does not matter to me."

A few hours later…

A bullet barrels into me. "OKITA-SENSEI! What do I do? Saitou-sensei…he KNOWS!" cries Sei. I start to soften at her beautiful face and voice.

"Seizaburou Kamiya! What are you doing?" barks Saitou. I steel myself. "Go!" I order Sei. And I leave her like a lost child.

When Hijitaka returns…..

"Sei is now mine! I'll take good care of her and she will never see the battlefield again!" smirks Saitou.

"That's great!" I smile. 'It's so strange. I was always pushing her to leave. Why am I not happy? Not relieved?'

Saitou takes leave for a week. He returns in two days, thunderous. "WHERE IS SHE, OKITA SOUJI!" he roars.

"What? Isn't she with you? I entrusted her to you! She wouldn't come back here!" I said incredolously. My mind spins as I try to figure out where she would go.

I rush to Osato-san's house, heart pumping overdrive. "Ano, suminmasen, do you know where Kamiya-san is?"

"Leave! I lost Sei-chan thanks to your idioticness! Don't worry, she would not be happy anywhere now. Did you really think she would be happy to stay at home, look after kids and the household with a man she does not love? She would not leave the Shinsegumi because she was in love with YOU! She isn't the type to stay and pray! She's a woman of action. And you took that away from her! I don't even know where she is right now but to relieve you, she's not the type to commit seppuku! She's still thinking of you. Why did you give her to Saitou? Leave, NOW!" screamed Osato-san.

"But – "

"Leave, baka-san!"

I looked down to see Mabo glaring at me through teary eyes.

"Point taken. I will go now."

Saitou is stunned. 'I thought she would have been happy with me and living out of war. I'm so sorry my friend, I couldn't protect your sister.'

"Okita, I concede defeat. If we ever meet Sei again, she's yours. I thought I was listening to her brother's wishes. I see I took a wrong way to do that and for this I am sorry," said Saitou as he walked away a broken man.

"Sei….where are you now? Come back to me…please," I cry as I perch on her favourite tree branch.

Days became weeks. Weeks became months. Months became years….

And during this time, there arose stories of a travelling samurai, highly skilled. One day, this samurai appeared in front of me.

I couldn't believe it. It looked like Sei. But it couldn't be…right?

As the figure wiped his/her katana free of blood, I tentatively called out, "Sei?"

The figure froze, took a glance at me and paled. It WAS Sei. She sheathed her blade and began to run.

"SEI!" I shouted as I chased her. I managed to catch up and tackled her to the ground.

"Let me go! Release me this instant, you brute!" she cries and tries to push me away. She was always too slow to outrun me and physically weaker than me.

"NO! Listen to me! I let you go once, and I have regretted it for the past few years. I thought I would never see you again. I love you, Sei," I begged.

She froze. "What?" she croaked.

"You're my crybaby, my doll, my tomboy and my love," I said. "I'm never letting you leave me again!"

Sei bursts out crying. "You idiot of a sensei! I love you too…"

Then I captured her lips in a passionate kiss and whisked her away, to a place where we could be happy forever…together.
