A Single Day

A/N. Ok, so it's not fully humanized. The characters will have animal ears and tails. We'll refer to them as humanoids

It was a sunny day at Paws High School and all the students were leaving their classes to go to lunch. Tom was walking with his friends Butch, Toodles, and his cousin, George. They were laughing and talking, while George silently avoided the mice humanoids, staying close to Tom.

The four friends walked out to the school yard, and sat down at the fountain in the middle of the yard.

Tom looked around, and found out that another group was sitting at the fountain as well.

Jerry, and his friend, who everybody called Nibbles were there. Along with Jerry's cousin, Muscle Mouse, and his other friend, Topo. They were all eating cheese, and talking amongst themselves.

Tom snickered. "Hey guys" he said to his friends. "Look who it is" he said, pointing his thumb finger at the mouse group.

Tom, Toodles, and Butch all smirked at each other, and got up, walking to the other group, leaving George behind since he was afraid.

"Well well." Toodles said, as they all stood in front of the mice. Jerry, Nibbles, Muscle, and Topo looked up at the three people who interrupted them.

Jerry sighed. "Hey Tom." He said. "What's up?"

Tom smirked, and grabbed all their lunches, and threw them across the yard.

"Hey! What 'a was that for?" Topo yelled, standing up, along with Nibbles, who glared at the three 'nekos'.

"Why you-!" Muscle growled, and threw a punch at Butch, landing it square on his nose.

"Arg!" Butch yelled out, grabbing it in pain, but just soon rubbed it off.

Jerry stood, and went in front of his friends.

"Tom..," he said, rubbing the bridge of his nose. "Why do you pick on me and my friends so much?"

This time, Tom just smiled, and walked up to the smaller male.

"Oh Jerry." He said quietly, petting his head.

Jerry looked at him questionably, his ears perking up in alarm, as did Tom and Jerry's friends and cousins.

"You and I may act like we want each other gone." Tom started. "You and I may act like we want to kill each other, but in reality-" He smiled once more, not relenting on petting Jerry's head. "Neither of us could go a single day without each other. Neither of us could do it. We're still friends."

After a moment, Jerry smiled. "Yeah.., I guess you're right."

"Jerry I…" Tom pulled his hand away, and was struggling to say something.

"Yeah..?" Jerry asked, staring at the man in question.

Tom sighed. "I really am sorry. A-about hurting you so bad..," Tom finally said, staring at some old wounds on Jerry's arms and legs. "Could you forgive me?" He asked hopefully.

Jerry was in shock, as was everyone else- Tom never really apologized to anyone.

Slowly, ever so slowly, Jerry nodded. "Yes. I forgive you, Tom." He said sincerely.

Then, in the blink of an eye, Tom's cocky attitude was back. "Good. And just because everything's forgiven, doesn't mean I won't stop chasing you." He smirked. "It just means I won't hurt you as bad as before" he said, slowly raising his hands in a claw like gesture.

Jerry laughed, backing away a bit. "I was hoping that was the case" he smiled, then started running.

"Bye guys!" He yelled to his friends as he ran off.

"See you guys later!" Tom yelled to his own friends as he chased after the mouse.

And finally, just like that, the famous chase between Tom cat and Jerry mouse was back on.
