It was the night before the full moon, and Remus Lupin was exhausted to say the least. Tonks was working late, leaving Remus alone with his son. Teddy was extremely excited for the fact that he would be going to visit Harry and Ginny in the morning. "Cub, it's time to go to bed." Remus announced to his turquoise haired son. "But Daddy! I don't wanna go to bed! I am so excited to see Uncle Harry, Auntie Ginny and James." A pout appeared on appeared on Teddy's face as he spoke.
Remus led his son to Teddy's room, and helped him get ready for bed. A minute or so passed and Remus remembered what his son had previously said. "You can't see them if you don't go to bed, Teddy. The night can't change into morning, if you don't go to sleep." A small smile appeared on Remus's face, as he tried not to laugh.
A look of horror appeared on the four year old's face, as Teddy listened to his father speak. "No! No! I want it to be morning now! I'll go to sleep, but you gotta read me a story first." Remus nodded his head, and watched as Teddy chose a book for him to read. Teddy climbed into his bed with his stuffed wolf, stuffed stag and stuffed dog. A grin appeared on Teddy's face, after he handed the book to Remus. "Read Daddy! Please."
When Remus saw the title of the book, 'Little Red Riding Hood", he visibly paled. He knew exactly what the book thought about wolves, and worried what Teddy would think of the story. After clearing his throat, he began to read to his son. "Once upon a time, there was a little girl who lived in a village near the forest." He continued to read, until the story was over. "The End", said an relieved Remus.
Teddy stared at his father for a few moments, before speaking up. "Daddy? I don't think all wolves are mean like the one in the story." Remus raised his eyebrow, clearly surprised. "Oh?" His son nodded his head and smiled, even though he appeared to be tired. "Yep! Not all wolves are mean. Moony isn't mean. I like hearing stories about him and his friends." After speaking, Teddy closed his eyes and went to sleep.
Remus stared in awe at his sleeping son, and a tear began to fall down his cheek. "I love you, cub." He heard a noise coming from the hallway, and saw that Tonks had been there for awhile. Remus made his way over towards his wife, whom put her arm around him. "He loves you and would never see you as a monster, just like me." A small smile appeared on Remus's face as he spoke up. "I know."
