Jisbon

It was 12pm. Lisbon was filing papers for work – every job had an inevitable dull aspect. A noise outside the house made her start.

Three knocks, and an expectant silence.

"Come in!" Lisbon tried to hide the boredom from her voice.

The door opened slowly.

"I come bearing gifts!" Jane flourished a bottle of (probably cheap) wine at her, and Lisbon rolled her eyes.

"What do you want, Jane?"

Patrick Jane sidled into the lounge room, pretending he hadn't heard. "Well, it's nice to see you too."

Jane went across to the kitchen and withdrew two wineglasses, raising an eyebrow as if asking for permission.

"Oh, well… if you must, though I was on a roll with those papers. You've gone and distracted me."

Jane smiled. "I'm a welcome distraction, I can tell."

Several hours later, the 2 colleagues were uncharacteristically drunk.

Lisbon could hardly remember the last time she had indulged in a little drink, and was feeling the effects quite heavily, in both mind and body.

"Jane. Ja… Jane. Patrick."

Jane wasn't exactly sober, either. He blinked several times, trying to get rid of the fog of alcohol. "Lisbon. Yeah… yeah, what?"

Lisbon leaned over the table and said in what she thought was a confidential whisper, "I think… I think I love you, Patrick."

The two were silent for a second, and then Lisbon kissed him.

Lisbon murmured against his lips, "Thish ish crazhy. This is… weird. What am I doing?"

Jane gently bit Lisbon's lower lip. He said quietly, "You're kissing Patrick Jane, that's what."

For a moment they stayed like that, and then Lisbon pulled back, scarcely believing what she had just done.

"God. I'm sorry. I-I don't know what I was "

Jane raised his eyes to her own. "Don't be sorry. Seriously."

Lisbon awoke with a start. Daylight came mercilessly in through her window, and she cringed at the brightness of it.

She blinked, several times, and realised several things. Firstly, she was not wearing any clothing. Secondly, his arm was still draped over her waist. Lisbon rolled over cautiously, and found herself staring at the senseless figure of Patrick Jane.

"Jane. Jane!" she whispered fiercely. Jane frowned slightly, but did not open his eyes.

"Hey!" Lisbon flicked him lightly on the cheek, and one of his eyes opened irritably. "We…" she stared at his chest, not able to face him. "We, er, slept together, didn't we…" Lisbon shut her eyes, remembering the night's events.

"Hmmmm… yep." Jane smiled wolfishly, still touching her waist.

Lisbon pulled herself closer, inhaling his sharp, musky scent. "You know the worst part, Jane?"

"What? There was a worst part?"

"I don't even regret it."
