Luffy stumbled to Nami, slipping many times in all the blood puddling the ground. When he reached her, he dropped to his knees, then fell onto his face beside her. He flipped onto his back, then looked over at Nami. Her eyes were closed, her hair splayed out like a halo around her face. She would've looked peaceful, if not for the long cut on her cheek and the crimson splotches all over her body. Luffy slowly lifted a hand, then reached out and placed his hand on her cheek. It smeared more blood on her beautiful face, but Luffy was beyond caring. He carefully caressed her face, smiling gently. He ignored the pain for now, ignored the fact that there was a giant cut going from his shoulder to his hip. Ignored the fact that the ground was already soaked with his blood.

"Did you know that you're beautiful?" Luffy whispered, then he coughed, arching his back, blood spurting out of his mouth. As his coughing fit slowly ceased, he lay back down on the blood-stained grass with a sigh. There was still fighting going on, but the sounds faded to nothing as Luffy once again turned to stare at Nami. There was a hole in her chest the size of a fist; there was no way she was alive. But he smiled anyways as he put his hand over hers, entwining their fingers together. Her hand was ice cold, making him shiver. But he didn't pull away.

"You know, I always did think you were beautiful. I'm not stupid, like everyone thinks. Someone would have to be dumb not to notice how pretty you are," Luffy said casually as a boot landed dangerously close to his face. The fight was still going on, and the Straw Hat Crew had yet to notice their captain and navigator laying in pools of their own blood. Luffy only wished Chopper had come with him this time. There was only Zoro, Sanji, and Usopp. But they weren't doctors, like Chopper was.

"I really do love you, Nami. And I wish I could've told you that sooner," Luffy went on, reaching up to grab his hat. He placed it on Nami's chest, covering the ugly hole. He couldn't bear to see it, because it reminded him of Ace, and how Ace had died with a hole in his gut...

"If you just listened to me and stayed on the ship, you would be fine right now," Luffy said with a sigh, dispelling his thoughts. His tone was nonchalant, but his eyes were slowly filling with tears. The tears spilled over, making tiny clean lines on his face. But he still smiled, because he knew Nami liked it when he smiled.

"We both could be having fun, back on the Sunny." Luffy's voice was starting to crack, and he coughed again, making more red splatter the green grass.

"You would probably hit me right now for letting you die... And you'd probably make me owe you a rediculous amount of money for calling you pretty... But right now, I'd give anything just to hear your voice again..." Luffy couldn't go on, for he was choking on his own sobs and blood. He spit out most of the blood, but his sight swam with spots of every color.

"I l-love you Nami," he gasped out, before his vision went black.

"I love you, too... Luffy..."

"NAMI! LUFFY!"
