Brother Against Brother

"Raph, don't do it. You know it will only cause trouble."

Raphael barely spared a glance at Michaelangelo as he finished
dressing himself in the things necessary for the battle ahead.

"Raph.." Mike tried again to convince his brother of the futility
of the coming battle.

"Mike, for once in your life, shut up." Having said that Raphael
walked out of his room. Just as he did, Leonardo came out of the
training room also dressed for the night's confrontation.

Raphael narrowed his eyes at his brother. "Are you ready?"

Leo nodded once. "Yes."

"You gonna chicken out?" Raph was a bit surprised that he got
Leo to agree to this. Splinter wouldn't like it in the least and Leo
rarely did anything without their sensei's approval.

"No," Leonardo answered. He knew as well as Raph that
Splinter would have their heads if he found out what they had
planned. But this was a matter of pride; a matter of honor.

They walked to the door and grabbed their coats and hats.
Michaelangelo was watching them worriedly when Donatello
came up to him.

"They're still going to do it?" he asked.

Mike nodded. "Yup."

"Couldn't talk Raph out of it, huh?"

"Nope." Mike was quiet for a second as his warring brothers got
ready to leave. "Maybe I should go with them. Keep things from
getting too bloody. You know how Raph is."

Donny shrugged. "I don't think you would do much good, Mike.
Tonight, someone is going down in defeat whether you're there or
not."

Mike sighed. "I guess."

"Bye, Guys," Raph said. "Don't wait up."

"Cover for us, huh Donny?" Leo whispered.

Donatello rolled his eyes. "Don't I always?"

"And you keep your mouth shut," Raph warned Mike.

Michaelangelo smiled innocently. "Don't I always?"

Not even wanting to reply to that, the two of them left.

Raphael lead through the underground tunnels of the
underground subway with Leonardo following a few steps behind.

"You having second thoughts?" Raphael goaded.

Leonardo smiled. "Don't you wish."

"You always talk so big. Well, we'll see tonight who the best is."
Raph picked up his pace, anxious to get there.

"You don't stand a chance. I think I almost feel sorry for you."
Leo felt a little trash talking was necessary to get Raphael on the
defensive.

"Save your pity," Raphael replied not taking the bait. "We're
almost there."

Leo slowed down a little. "We have to be careful we're not
seen."

"I've got it all taken care of," Raph assured him. "I know how to
get in without being seen."

"You've been here before?" Leo asked.

"Yeah, now shut up." He walked to the ladder and started up.
Leo followed him.

Once safely to the surface, they headed for the battleground;
pulling their collars up higher and trying not to stand out too
much. Leonardo gave a low whistle. There were easily hundreds
of thousands of people here.

"Ready?" Raphael asked, the challenge evident in his voice.

Leo grinned. "Oh yeah. Let's go." He and Raphael never could
agree on anything. Not even who was going to win the World
Series in New York.
