First lesson
Alecto Carrow sighed and tapped her foot impatiently against the floor of her classroom as she waited for her new students to arrive.
If someone had told her when she completed her education that she would return to this school nineteen years later to teach, she would have laughed in their faces and hexed them for good measure; but here she was back at Hogwarts on a chilly September morning waiting for the second year students to arrive for the vastly improved Muggle Studies.
Instead of learning about muggle objects and their uses, and hearing all that 'politically correct' nonsense about how muggles are human too, she would be telling the children the cold hard truth about how muggles were scum of the earth and that they were nasty, disease ridden things who had persecuted wizarding kind and driven them into hiding.
From what she had observed about the significantly reduced population of Hogwarts students in the Great Hall during the sorting ceremony the previous evening, they appeared to be nothing more than a bunch of fearful, ridiculous children. She shouldn't have a lot of trouble convincing that bunch of half-wits of the true nature of those filthy muggles.
The best part of her new job, at least as far as Alecto was concerned, was that she would have control over what punishments would befall the troublemakers. She couldn't wait to torture the hell out of some terrified first year.
The bell rang signally that all students should make their way to their classrooms immediately and Alecto rose from her chair and made her way towards the door to greet her new class, which Alecto felt comprised of far too many half-bloods; she could practically smell the filth coming off them and they hadn't even arrived yet.
The stench of impurity grew stronger and stronger until finally there was a gaggle of about twenty talkative children waiting outside her door, who fell into an immediate silence once they noticed her presence. She flicked her hand and indicated that the vile children should enter her classroom.
Alecto eyed the bunch of second years, who had trudged to their seats in fearful silence, and felt a surge of pride as she noticed their miserable faces. Her reputation as one of the Dark Lord's most feared followers was clearly known to this pathetic group of children.
Her first lesson had been comprised of the abhorrent behaviour of the muggles during the Salem Witch Trials and how they had tried and failed to eradicate their kind. Less than ten minutes into the lesson, half her class looked terrified whilst the other half attempted to justify their actions. It didn't take a genius to figure out that these children had been brainwashed.
An hour later, a dozen questions about muggles and several severe punishments handed out to the children who tried to contradict what she taught them later, Alecto settled down for a glass of firewhiskey.
She contemplated how the lesson had gone as she took a long drink from her glass and thought, if every lesson after this went anything like this she was going to need to stock up on firewhiskey.
