A/N: 04/21/19 - Hello! Welcome to my first full length Power Ranger OC story. This message is for anyone who is rereading or is a first timer! First, let me thank you for choosing to read it. I started this story when I was fifteen and had no idea where I wanted to go with it. So, you may notice some slight grammar errors and plot holes that I am currently working on, now that I've let this story sit since I finished it five years ago. With that out of the way, I hope you enjoy!

Earth... A beautiful planet... One of many that supports life and peace. However, time and time again, Earth has been thrown into danger. However, when the wicked rise, a team of heroes would stand tall to protect this world. Now, a new story... a new Power Ranger Legend is about to begin...
-Dream-
A once shining city known as Bayview shook with an ongoing conflict. Explosions rocked the buildings, debris and smoke filled the air, and finally, the Sun was eclipsed with a bluish glow.
Five Power Rangers were doing battle with two mysterious figures wrapped in shadow. The Green Ranger trapped the figures between stones, while the Yellow Ranger charged up lightning.
The Blue and Pink Rangers sent in a water-wind combo attack that struck the enemies. The Yellow Ranger then released the lightning into the water, electrifying her target.
The Red Ranger shot a metallic arrow that burst on fire right at the figures and seemingly destroyed them. The rangers gathered together thinking they had won, but an explosion behind them disproved this. One figure had used the other as a shield... The Rangers were shocked...
-End Dream-
Jared Gordon woke up in cold sweat. His alarm clock was blaring next to his ear. He reached for it with his left hand and hit the snooze button. Little did he know, a glowing gold Triquetra was shining on the back of his left hand. After a few moments, it faded away.
Jared got up and went into the bathroom. "Weird dream..." He muttered. After getting dressed, Jared observed himself in the mirror. He wiped his shaggy brown hair over dark eyes. He blankly examined his tan face. The teen wore a red t-shirt, brown cargo shorts and red vans shoes.
Jared sat down at the breakfast table where his brother, Cody was already sitting.
"Morning, Champ." Cody said cheerfully.
Jared looked as his brother with a, "Don't even start," face.
"Come on, buddy. It's our first day!"
"Whatever," Jared rolled his eyes. "How're we twins again?"
"Well, little brother, it's the miracle of life!"
Their mother Melissa, said, "Ok, boys. You have fifteen minutes before school starts. I suggest you leave now. You don't want to be late on your first day."
"Alrighty, Mom!" Cody said, getting up. "Come on, Jared."
The teen sighed, shook his head and followed his brother out the door.
- Cue Season 1 Theme, Link on Profile-
Jared and Cody stepped off the Bayview High School bus and went straight to the Principal's office. The Principal's name was Principle Edals (Eh-Dells) and he was a tall man with brown hair and green eyes. He also had a mature tan face. "Welcome to our school, you two." He smiled.
Cody smiled back. "It's a pleasure to be here."
Jared just sat there and stared at the ground.
"So..." Mr. Edals began as he went through his laptop. "Just let me pull up your profiles so I can get your schedules..." Cody and Jared took turns filling in electives for the Semester. They were then given printed copies.
"Now, if you need any help, ask a student, teacher, or me!" Mr. Edals said as he patted Jared on the shoulder. That's when it hit Jared; he felt a strange sensation, a chilling feeling rushing down his back, making his hairs stand on end.
Shaking it off, Jared parted ways with his brother and tried to get through the day. Jared felt like a fish out of water to say the least. He had no sense of direction in this new school, everything seemed so foreign to him. He finally got to his locker and punched in his combination, but it didn't work.
"What the..." He tried it again, but failed once more. "Come on!" In growing irritation, he smacked the door a few times.
A light-hearted voice said, "Woah, buddy. Let's not kill the thing."
"Well, this stupid thing won't open," Jared pointed out, turning to meet a boy's amber eyes. The boy was about Jared's height with lighter skin and lighter brown hair. He wore a black and white shirt, jeans, and converse.
"That's because... that's MY locker."
Jared felt his face flush as he checked his schedule for his locker number. As it turned out, his locker was right next to the one he had hit. "Oh..." He punched in the combo to the locker next door and was able to open it on his first try. "Sorry bout that..."
"No worries. I'm Tobias."
"Jared."
"Well, Jared. Welcome to Bayview."
By lunch period, Cody was already in a group of friends having a great time. Cody's twin, however, sat under a tree. Jared looked on at his brother with slightly envious eyes. The boy in red sat back and stared at the sky, thinking about his old friends back in Los Angeles. Tobias did seem to be a nice guy to be friends with, but he wasn't in Jared's lunch wave.
"Mom said we lived here when we were little," Jared whispered to himself. "Why'd we have to come back?" A camera flash erupted on the left side of his peripheral, catching him off guard.
"Sorry!" Came a female voice, one that was full of worry.
Jared rubbed his eyes. "Don't sweat it..." He looked up and met the eyes of a girl with long brown hair, brown eyes, fair skin, and a petite body. She wore a white shirt under a pink button down, blue jeans and pink converse. Jared looked away when he felt that he was staring a bit too long.
"You're one of the new students, right?" She asked.
"Uh... Yeah. I'm Jared," the boy replied holding out his hand.
"Alicia Morgan. Sophomore Class president, Head of the Yearbook club and Chief of the School Newspaper... And I sit behind you in Biology." She took Jared's hand and firmly shook it. Jared felt a tinge in his head, one that was familiar. He could easily read that Alicia was a bit apprehensive by how her hand felt.
"Do you mind?" Alicia asked motioning a spot next to Jared. Jared nodded and Alicia took a seat. "So you're from LA? What's it like there?"
"You sure know a bit about me... and ask a lot of questions." Jared teased.
"Well..." Alicia trailed off, "I make it my business to know."
"Alicia!" A new voice greeted them, making them turn their heads. A girl with a mature aura about her approached. She had long, brown hair, and piercing green eyes. Her skin was a light shade of olive. "I'm glad to see you're showing the new guy around."
"Hey, Rachel," Alicia greeted with a smile. "Jared, this is Rachel, she's on the Student Council with me. We're actually-"
Alicia was cut off when a girl about the same height as her stopped running in front of the two. Her light skinned face moved heavily with her deep breaths, her green eyes were wide and wild, and her blonde hair was all over the place. She wore a grey sweatshirt over a yellow shirt, brown capris and yellow converse.
Alicia looked at her friend. "Sonia, what's wrong?"
Sonia frantically informed, "There's a fight! Noah!"
Alicia's eyes widened and she muttered, "Oh no..." She got up and ran, with Jared following. The three shoved their way through a crowd and found a fellow Sophomore duking it out a Junior. This Sophomore was taller than Jared, had lighter skin, blue eyes, and shorter brown hair. He wore a light blue shirt under a darker blue jacket. He also wore dark brown cargoes and black sneakers. The underclassmen blocked the Junior's punch and flipped him onto his back.
"Noah Ryder! Paul Kirkland! Break it up!" Yelled a teacher.
Alicia sighed and whispered to Jared, "That's Noah, our resident daredevil. Give me a second." She began to push her way closer and closer.
"What is the meaning of this?" The teacher demanded.
Noah explained, "Paul was picking on Liam!" He pointed to another Sophomore. He had dark short hair, light skin, green eyes and a fair face. He wore a black leather jacket over a green shirt, black pants, and white and green sneakers.
The teacher was about to chew Noah out even more, when Alicia stepped in.
"Mr. Larimer, I'm sure Noah meant well. We all know he can be a little... over the top."
"Hey!" Noah exclaimed, offended, but Alicia kept going.
"Just let this one slide, and I'll guarantee he turns his attitude around."
Mr. Larimer thought it over. "Fine, Ms. Morgan. I trust you."
Noah looked at Alicia with a look of gratitude.
- Dark Void-
Earth has a shadow. In this shadow, lies a parallel world where beings of dark magic, the "Twilightians," reside.
The King of the Twilightians, King Cepheus, sensed many different energies flow from all directions in his massive and dark throne room. Cepheus had the form of an old man with greying hair. His tan skin was wrinkled from age, but his eyes glowed bright red. He wore a dark red cape over black armor.
"Roxas, come forth."
"Yes, father?" Roxas was a man who appeared to be in his late 30's. He had neat, dark brown hair and dark eyes. He wore a black leather jacket, black pants, and boots.
"Do you feel it?"
Roxas closed his eyes and, within his mind, saw a red energy aura in the distance. "I do, but what is it?"
"The Slayer has arrived in Bayview. He's right above our heads."
"The Slayer?" Came a menacing voice. A man wearing crimson colored loose clothing approached the two. He looked human, like the other two. He had black hair, dark eyes and light skin. "Sounds like a fight to me..."
A smooth, female voice said, "You always want to fight, Phoenix..." An asian woman stepped out from the shadows. She wore a green and black kimono. "Is there anything else running through that simple brain of yours?"
"I didn't ask you, Medusa."
"It's just an observation." She countered, her voice maintaining its calm composure.
"Silence!" Cepheus ordered, his eyes glowing with irritation. "The seal on the Nemeton is weakening, I can feel it. The fact that the Slayer is here means that its power is beginning to leak. With time, it will begin to draw Supernatural creatures to its location, like a beacon. I want you to send a Specter up to the surface and possess a group of Vampires. Then, a Phantom leading a squad of Shadowlites. We must start our conquest now."
"We'll get right on it." Roxas said, bowing his head.
- Bayview Docks -
A giant coven of vampires, there were about 30, waited patiently for the sun to lower. Suddenly, a black fog filled the room. The fiends knew what it was, and they tried to resist, but the substance sank into them and took control. The vampire eyes went from yellow to pitch black. 15 stepped out into the sun, unharmed.
"Kill!" The leader commanded to his followers.
"Kill!" They echoed.
- Bayview High -
Jared, Noah, Alicia, Sonia and Liam sat down in Mythology class. The bell rung, and the teacher introduced himself.
"Hello, everyone. I'm Dr. Wells, the school's new Mythology teacher."
A girl asked, "Aren't you a little too young to teach?"
"Believe me, I'm old enough." The man laughed. He did look young, maybe being in his mid 20s. His brown hair was gelled and combed over. He had a strong physique, icy blue eyes, and a nice complexion. "Now..." Dr. Wells turned around to write on the whiteboard. "Who can define 'Mythology?"
~Later On~
Jared slung his red backpack over his shoulder, listening to Cody gush about how "amazing" his first day was. "My classes are awesome!" Cody exclaimed, practically skipping down the sidewalk of their street.
"Okay, Code, take a chill pill," Jared laughed, "You'll hurt yourself."
"Don't 'Code' me, Jar-Bear!" Cody teased back. "How bout you Mr. Doom and Gloom?"
"It was normal," Jared shrugged. They continued to walk when Jared felt another chill run down his spine. He quickly turned around with his senses on full alert. He could've sworn he was being followed.
"Jerry? Earth to Jerry?" Cody waved his hand in front of his brother. "Jared!"
"What?" Jared snapped his head forward.
"You zoned out on me."
"Yeah," Jared shook his head. "Sorry."
~That Night~
Jared finished his last homework assignment and pushed himself away from his desk. His room, according to his Mom, was the room he stayed in the last time they lived in Bayview years ago. The walls were a faded red, it was still bare. Boxes that remained packed were stacked next to his bed, laziness being the reason as to why he didn't take everything out.
The Gordon Manor was a rather larger house in an upper-middle class area. It had been in the Gordon Family for generations. "It only makes sense we'd move back here," Mrs. Gordon told Jared and Cody. Shaking his head, Jared went over to his bed and pulled a trunk out from under it. He undid the lock and lifted the lid, revealing a wide array of weapons. Stakes, Holy Water vials, Crosses, Crossbows, Garlic, etc. lined the many nooks and crannies of the foot locker.
Jared withdrew a one foot stake from it along with three 6 inch stakes. He laid the weapons on his bed and changed into black sweatpants, shoes, and a red long sleeved shirt. He stuffed the stakes under his shirt and ran downstairs. He passed the kitchen and found a note from his Mom.
"Boys, I'll be working the late shift at the Hospital. See you tomorrow. - Love Mom."
Quietly, Jared walked out of the kitchen and into the main hallway that led to the front door. He passed under the chandelier and felt a surge of energy flow through him. "Again?" He asked, quietly. Ignoring it, he continued toward the door, not noticing two things: One, the Triquetra glowed once more on his left hand and Two, the crystal chandelier above him slowly shook and glowed.
~An Unknown Location~
Rachel Shelor paced around a well lit room. This large room had a corner with computer screens and consoles, where her friend, Kayla sat. "A power surge?"
The dark haired girl nodded, "This surge of energy matches the Slayer." Her fingers flew across the many keyboards, trying to gather as much information as possible.
In another corner, Luke Winston, a brunet with hazel eyes, stood at a strange counter of sorts. The counter was covered with strange ingredients for potion-making. Next to his station was a door that led to a large library covering many different topics. "Something's coming," he told the girls, still keeping his eyes on a potion he was brewing. "It's no coincidence he's here."
Colton Hill stood in a space cleared for training purposes. Racks of weapons and dummies were along the large perimeter, glinting in the light. The muscular boy squared off hand-to-hand with shorter girl with dark skin, named Iris. "We have a fight coming," he commented between hits.
She spun away from his kick and nodded, "Think we can take them alone?"
"I'm not sure," Rachel replied, walking up to the training pit.
Suddenly, an alarm, a sound that was a mixture between bells and a siren, rang out.
~Crest Cemetery, Bayview~
"Woah!" Jared gasped, being tossed overhead. He landed on his feet, but the force of the throw tipped him back, making him go into a backwards roll. The Specter-possessed Vampires advanced on him.
"I might actually have to put some effort into it," Jared shrugged, catching his breath.
Suddenly, a white flash of wind rained down from above and struck the creatures, encasing them in white ice. Rachel jumped down and landed in front of them with a white-hilted katana. Her face was obscured by a hood and sunglasses.
Red arrows raced through the air alongside two white fox spirits. These attacks destroyed the ice and the monsters within them. Iris and Colton appeared next to Rachel. Iris wielded a black Bow while Colton held paper talismans. Their combined efforts destroyed the remaining attackers. Luke appeared within a wave of wind, panting. "Is it over?"
"Not quite!" A malicious voice growled from below. A large hand grabbed the four and lifted them into the air. A gargoyle-like monster squeezed the struggling Teens.
The Gargoyle's eyes glowed and silver auras appeared around the four. These auras were then absorbed into the Phantom.
"What's happening?" Colton asked, his voice strained.
"I'm taking your powers!" The Phantom answered, manically.
When it had finished, the four collapsed.
"No!" Jared shouted in disbelief, punching forward. When he did, a silver ribbon-like energy stream rocketed from his fist and hit the Gargoyle square in the chest, knocking it back a few steps.
"One more..." It breathed. However, it stopped itself. It looked at its hands and gasped. It was disappearing into black smoke. "I must replenish my Dark Energy." It then turned into a shadow and sunk into the ground.
Before Jared could do anything else, a swirl of white and blue orbs appeared from thin air came together around the downed fighters. A cloaked figure stepped out of the lights and quickly teleported himself and his fallen comrades away, leaving the Slayer in the dust.
~The Next Day~
"Woah, man. You look exhausted," Noah commented after studying Jared's face. The boy in red had bags under his eyes and he was barely registering what he was hearing. He and his new classmates had just walked out of Mythology Class, the last class of the day, and were making their way to the buses.
"Long night?" Liam asked the new kid.
Jared shrugged his shoulders. "You can say that." Changing the subject, he asked, "So you guys still coming over to work on Dr. Wells' project?"
"Sure," Alicia nodded. "What's your address?"
Jared took out his phone and said, "I'll text you guys."
~Gordon Manor~
"No way," Cody grinned at Jared. "Friends this soon?"
Embarrassed, Jared escorted the others into the sun room while he reprimanded his brother. "Seriously?"
"Sorry... Well, I gotta go run some errands. Be good now, you hear?"
Sighing, Jared apologized for his brother's behavior. Later on, the Five were well into knowing what to make their presentation on.
~The Plaza~
"That took TOO long," Cody complained, walking out of another store, his arms full of groceries. "And now I have to wait for the bus... Aw man..." A chorus of screams caught his attention. He looked over, seeing more Vampires attacking people.
"What the..." In fear, Cody rushed home immediately.
~Gordon Manor~
"I think we have a good start," Alicia commented, looking down at her watch. "Oh wow, it's already 9:30. I gotta get home." Noah, Liam, and Sonia all got up to join her. Jared said, "I'll walk you guys out." The Five walked through the house, the ground began to shake, causing alarm, stopping the Teens under the crystal chandelier.
"What's going on?" Sonia grasped a nearby wall. Another jolt caused them to fall into one another.
"Are you guys okay?" Jared asked, helping the others up. For safety, the Five linked hands in a circle to slowly stand. When they all got to their feet, a warm sensation flowed through them. "Legends, awaken..." An angelic voice whispered to them. The chandelier began to glow a beautiful bright white light, showering the Five. Each felt something rise within them, something that felt dormant but was now fully awake.
"The attic..." The voice told them. "The attic."
Following the direction, Jared led the others up the stairs toward the attic door.
"This makes no sense," Jared informed. "The door was always locked when I was little." He grabbed the knob and found it was still locked. "See?" However, the door mysteriously opened, causing the group to freeze up.
"Freaky," Liam whispered. The Five slowly walked into the room. Old furniture and boxes lined the walls. Three windows facing the street were on the far side of the room. In front of another set of windows facing the neighboring house was a wooden stand holding a book double the width of a textbook.
Feeling drawn to it, the Five walked over to it. The book covers were made of black leather and the pages within were goldenrod colored and thick by paper standards. Slowly, Jared opened the cover to the first page, which read, "The Destiny Book" in beautifully large and stylized letters. The letters appeared to be hand written and drawn. Jared turned the page again, the heading reading, "Awakening the Legends."
"I don't get it," Sonia whispered, "what is this?"
"Some sort of spellbook?" Liam pitched.
"No way," Noah shook his head. "It couldn't be."
"One way to find out," Jared said, looking down at the words, which were written in black ink, the font neat and beautiful to look at. "Gather on one night, the Five Legends come. The King, the Queen, the Hunter, the Guardian, and the Goddess, come together as one and awaken your powers. In unison, read the awakening chant."
Jared looked around at the others, who nodded. Together, they recited,
"Powers of the Magic rise,
Soar unseen across the skies,
settle here to we Legends Five,
give power and duty to protect all lives."
Suddenly, the book began to glow. In seconds, the attic was completely empty. The Five found themselves within a white space. Shimmers of rainbow light would streak around like stars every few moments.
"Find the Spirits," an angelic voice pleaded. "Find the Spirits..."
The owner of the angelic voice appeared to them, hovering above. She had olive dark skin and black hair. She wore a black cloak over white clothing. "My name is Ophani... You must find the Spirits and unlock your true selves."
"What is all this?" Alicia asked.
"You Five have a destiny."
"Destiny?" Liam echoed. "What destiny?"
"Find the Spirits, and things will be set in motion," Ophani replied, softly. She snapped her left fingers and everything went black for the Five.
The next thing the Five knew, they found themselves in the well lit room.
"Where are we?" Alicia asked. The building they were in was very high tech, but had elements of a church. The windows were stained glass portraits depicting peculiar symbols. Next to the front corridor of the building were walls that held touch computer screens. A few, small sets of stairs led to a lower level that had more computer monitors. On the opposite side of the room was a slightly larger area surrounded by walls of weapons; no doubt that was for training. Finally, more corridors led to different parts of the building.
"You're here," a familiar voice called out to them. Dr. Wells stepped into the light with a light grin on his face.
"No way," Noah shook his head. "What's going on here, Dr. Dubs? Is this some sort of joke?"
"It's not, Noah," Dr. Wells answered with a bit of urgency in his voice. "I'm afraid not. Our world is in danger again. But, please, let me explain." He whispered some words the Five could not understand and formed images in their minds.
"Eons ago, Earth, and all the other human inhabited planets were one world called 'Pulchrito.' It was a paradise of magic and science. Everything was peaceful until the Twilightians, a race of powerful beings, attacked."
A beautiful, sapphire blue planet filled their minds. They saw cities, forests, glaciers, deserts, many different places that reminded them of their current world, but this one was free of all things bad. In a flash, the world was darkened by purple energy. People ran and screamed in terror as a large army of grey foot soldiers stormed the cities. Standing in their way were Twelve figures wearing color-coded armor.
"Twelve champions who ruled over the elements defeated the invaders, but six sacrificed themselves to seal the Twilight into the 'Dark Void,' a world made of shadows. As a result, the perfect world spilt into infinite counterparts. The core of this world became the current Earth. The most powerful counterparts became the worlds known as Eltar and Geo Nova." The Five witnessed how many once barren planets across the dimensions were struck by Perfect Earth's energy, causing life to sprout on each one.
"Fearing the return the Twilight, the Champions established different groups of warriors trained in different areas to not only combat the future threat, but to help maintain peace throughout the worlds."
Images of warriors of all shapes and sizes appeared, wielding all sorts of swords, spears, staves, and maces. "The Warrior Class: Proud and strong beings who use melee weapons to battle."
Next, came images of cloaked warriors in hoods. "The Spellcaster Class: Witches and Wizards who use advanced spells and incantations to fight."
After, appeared images of warriors wielding all kinds of long ranged weapons such as guns and crossbows. "The Dragoon Class: Warriors who use long ranged weaponry."
Following this, came images of warriors wearing hi-tech lab gear. "The Hacker Class: Beings with superior intelligence who can operate any form of technology, no matter how big or small."
Lastly, images of warriors carrying paper talismans appeared. "Finally, the Tamer Class: Witches and Wizards who use talisman to tame spirits."
Above the images of the warrior classes came humans and human-like aliens floating above, all surrounded by blue orbs or light.
Dr. Wells explained, "To protect and guide all good Supernatural ones, beings called 'Light-Watchers' exist. On Earth, they are also known as 'Angels.' On Earth, the Supernatural has always existed alongside all creatures on this planet. The battle between good and evil Supernatural beings has gone on for thousands of years. You Five, if you haven't guessed already, are a part of this world."
"What?" Noah shook his head, "No way. We can't be."
"Jared," Dr. Wells nodded at the boy.
Jared turned to the others and sighed, "He's telling the truth..."
"How do you know?" Liam asked, crossing his arms.
"Because," Jared closed his eyes for a second and opened them. His brown eyes were now red. "I'm already a part of the Supernatural. I'm a Witch... but also the Slayer."
"Slayer?" Alicia asked.
"Hundreds of years ago," Jared explained, "three wise men infused the heart and soul of a demon within a teenage girl giving her super strength, speed, reflexes, intelligence, and so on. She became the first slayer. The girl was a great force of good and defeated many Supernatural beings. When she died, the three men made a prophecy. It's that every generation, a slayer is born. One teen in all the world will stand alone against the vampires, demons and forces of darkness. I'm... the current Slayer."
Jared turned around and asked Dr. Wells, "But why are we here? What's going on?"
Dr. Wells replied, "The Twilight have returned. You Five have the power to stop them. If you find the Ancient Spirits, you will become Power Rangers: Next Legend, and protect the world."
"The Spirits," Sonia repeated, "Like what that 'Ophani' woman said."
Dr. Wells nodded, "Ophani contacted me years ago telling me she'd place five potent Supernatural Teenagers into my care. If she sent you, then I trust her choice."
He projected more images in front of the Five. "This is King Cepheus and his followers. His son, Roxas, his advisor Wiseman, and his bodyguards Phoenix and Medusa. All are powerful."
"Okay," Sonia said, "How do we find the Spirits?"
Suddenly, Rachel limped in from another room. She had a bandage wrapped around her forehead and looked rather exhausted. "That was our mission," she said. "My friends and I are half Geo-Novian, half-Human. We were trained on Geo Nova and sent here to find the Spirits to bring back home. But, like Dr. Wells, we believe the spirits are meant to stay on Earth."
"Rachel, what happened to you?" Alicia asked, running up to her friend.
"We were in a fight last night with the Twilight's forces. My friends and I... we lost our powers."
Jared's eyes widened. "So it was you!"
"Yes, Jared... We knew exactly who you were and jumped in to save you."
"Why me? Why us?" Jared asked, his voice showing a hint of sadness.
Dr. Wells replied, "Bayview is a source of extraordinary magical energy. Our base of operations, this building right here, sits in Bayview's deepest forest protected by charms. It was built by a Wizard called 'Zordon,' to act as a sentry post."
"Sentry post?" Liam repeated, crossing his arms. "For what?"
Rachel explained, "For the Nemeton- a sacred space that acts a center of energy. It draws other Supernatural energy and beings in. To seal the Twilight into the Dark Void, the Bayview Nemeton was used to act as a lock and key to the gate. Now, it's weakened. More and more, creatures of all shapes and sizes will find themselves in the City. If they cause enough fear and panic, the Seal will break. No doubt, the Twilight will send up their own creatures to expedite the process."
"So please," Rachel begged, "with my friends and I powerless, we can't defend the City. It has to be you."
"Can we think about this?" Noah asked. "I need to time to... wrap my head around it."
"Of course," Dr. Wells nodded, "But you won't have long."
~The Next Day~
"It totally happened, didn't it?" Noah asked to confirm, leading the others to nod their heads. "I need to sit down." Noah slowly lowered himself to digest the information he wished to be false. The Five were outside in the quad during their lunch break, contemplating on what to do next.
"We don't even know how to get the Spirits," Liam pointed out. "And our powers? I mean Jared has his, but what about the rest of us?"
Suddenly, screams could be heard from outside. Vampires possessed by the Twilight were running around, attacking students. The Vampires were accompanied by grey foot soldiers. They had orange cracks in their skin, their eyes glowed just as orange and they had yellow horns on their heads.
"Stay here," Jared told the others before sprinting out the door. He reached the front of the school to see these monsters terrorizing students.
"He really told us to stay, didn't he?" Noah asked in disbelief. "Two words: No way."
"Back off!" Jared cried, kicking a Vampire away from a girl. He reached into his bag and withdrew two wooden stakes. From there, he began to stab different vampires in the hearts, turning them into dust. The Vampires were easy for him, but the other creatures weren't. Jared front flipped off a car and stabbed forward, but his stake became lodged in the creature's chest. It kicked him away and broke both his weapons.
"Oh no," Jared whispered. Suddenly, the creatures froze in place, as if they were a photograph. Behind Jared, stood Noah who looked just as surprised as the former. A thin blue aura was around his hands as he asked, "What did I just do?"
"I think that's your power," Jared whispered with a grin on his face. The others appeared next to them, shocked at what Noah did. However, the creatures became unfrozen and jumped at the Teens. Liam, on instinct, threw his hands above him, erecting a green bubble barrier around the Five. The creatures hit the barrier and bounced off of it. Sonia stepped up as the barrier came down and clapped her hands together, sending a concentrated beam of sound outward, knocking the creatures over.
"Awesome!" Liam cheered as Sonia laughed in disbelief. Alicia felt a jolt run through her body, making her jump in place. In her mind, she saw more of those creatures rise from the ground from purple smoke. "Behind us!" She informed when the vision went away. Sure enough, more creatures arose.
"There's too many now," Noah whispered, taking a few steps back.
Hundreds of tiny white and blue orbs appeared in front of the Five and disappeared, revealing Rachel and her team, alongside another Teen they recognized.
"Devon Leo?" Sonia asked in disbelief.
"Orbing," Devon motioned upward and winking, referring to the method by which Light-Watchers teleport.
Rachel limped forward and raised her Katana. "Stay here. We can't use our Mana, but we can still fight." With that, they charged forward. Devon stayed with the Five as his team managed to move the battle into the City.
Jared sighed, "She actually told us to stay,"
Noah clapped his hand on Jared's back and said, "Doesn't feel good, does it?"
After only a few moments, it was clear to the Five that Rachel's team couldn't hold out. Without their Mana, they were sitting ducks. Things got worse when the Gargoyle showed up.
"The Phantom from last night!" Luke pointed out. The Gargoyle charged at them, swatting them away like flies. The Phantom plus the Vampires easily overwhelmed them. To make matters even worse, grey humanoids rose from shadows on the ground. They had cracked skin and little horns. The cracks, as well as their eyes, glowed a bright orange.
"Shadowlites!" The Phantom ordered. "Attack!"
"We can't just sit here and do nothing," Liam pointed out. "Devon, you can't let us sit here."
Devon smiled and replied, "Hm... If you guys somehow ended up down there with a little 'angelic intervention,' I wouldn't say anything about it."
Rachel and her team were forced to their limits. They wouldn't have held out much longer. But, a wall of green energy appeared in front of them. Liam was behind them, with a grin on his face. A flash of blue zipped by and thrashed the vamps. Sonia lifted her hands and emitted a thin yellow aura, shooting a concentrated blast of sound waves at the fiends, destroying them.
"We came to help!" Noah said as he slowed down.
Rachel was going to lecture them, but an explosion knocked them to the ground. As the Five stood up in front of Rachel and the others, Ophani's voice came to them one last time. "This may be the last time we speak for a long time. Are you sure you Five want to take this path?"
"We are," the Five nodded. The Shadowlites advanced on them, but Jared turned around facing Rachel and closed his eyes.
When he opened them again, his eyes were red. A strange red symbol appeared under Jared and Rachel. A blue hole as wide as a CD appeared on Rachel's sternum. Jared raised his right hand and stuck it into the the mysterious blue portal. Streams of beautiful silver ribbon-like structures flowed out of it. Energy ribbons also swirled around the circumference of the symbol on the ground. Jared started to withdraw his hand, but when it came out, it was wrapped in a purple crystal-like substance. By then, his whole arm was out, but the crystal kept coming out of Rachel as Jared pulled. Jared then jumped back two feet and raised his right arm into the air. The crystal that covered his wrist stretched up to at least three feet. Two streams of energy swirled around the crystal and broke it to bits. When substance was gone, a three foot silver sword was held in Jared's hand.
"My turn to show you my powers," Jared calmly stated. Rachel was on her knees with her eyes closed. The blue hole in her chest was still there. The sword shot a silver light into the sky and made a high pitched ringing sound. The creatures started to run at Jared. The teen was unfazed, looking like he was in a trance. At a blinding speed, he slashed at them, turning them into dust. Jared jumped into the air, literally hopping to different aerial locations by forming red energy stepping stones. He swung the sword and sent a long silver stream through the Shadowlites, destroying them. The sword then burst into purple lights and re-entered Rachel's chest. When it did, the portal disappeared and Rachel woke up.
The Gargoyle monster growled, "You Five are powerful... Let me have it!" He charged at the Five, catching them off guard. He blasted the Five away and onto their backs. The wind knocked out of them, they struggled to stand.
"It won't end like this." Noah said, some sort of flame sparking in his heart.
"It's not over." Jared added. "We're not going down!" The Five reached into the sky on instinct and let their energies fly. Immediately, their auras erupted with power. Jared's was red, Noah's was blue, Alicia's was pink, Liam's was green, and Sonia's was yellow. Orbs materialized in front of them, each glowing just as bright. Within each orb, was a sprite of sorts, more like miniature versions of the Ancient Warriors.
Meanwhile, at Jared's home, the Chandelier in the hallway began to erupt with even more white light, causing Cody to look in from the kitchen and gasp.
Rachel was the only one still conscious, and she saw the spheres reacting. "It's feeding off of their emotions." She smiled, "The Spirits are meant to stay on Earth!" She poured energy into her right hand and launched it at the Five. The energy split off into pieces and wrapped around the wrists of the Five, forming blue morphers. The Morphers had twist dials attached to rectangular touch screens.
"What are these?" Sonia asked.
"Take those spheres and connect them with your Morphers!" Rachel instructed.
"The Spirits!" The Phantom realized. "Be silent!" It sent a wave of energy at Rachel, sending her into a fountain. She was still conscious, but barely.
Jared whispered, "If we merge with them, it'll give us power. So let's do it."
The five lined up and pressed the crystals to their Morphers. Each sunk into the devices, giving them life.
Their collective vision flashed with white, and they were in a white room. Five cloaked figures walked toward them in unison. They stopped a foot away from each teen and held out their arms. As if in a trance, the teens grabbed the cloaked hands.
Back in reality, the teens looked up. They pointed their Morphers forward and turned the dial.
A female voice, one that sounded like Ophani's, announced, "Biomerge."
The Five crossed their arms in front of their chests in an 'X', extended their right arms forward while lifting their left arms, in 90 degrees, to their sides similar Time Force's movement, then they pulled their right arms back to press their middle and pointer fingers on the main button of their Morphers.
As they did this, they called out, "Biomerge, Spirit Legend!" They pressed the touch screen behind the dial.
- Morphing Sequence -
Jared is standing in a neon red space that is moving downward. A circle of red energy appears at his feet and moves up his body, scanning him. As it goes along, it leaves small, red orbs of energy. When the circle gets to his head, it disappears, and the energy particles flash into Jared and burst outward, forming his ranger suit.
From left to right, Noah, Alicia, Liam and Sonia are going through the same process, but the spaces share their Ranger colors.
- End Morphing Sequence -
"Spirit of Fire: Legend Red!"
"Spirit of Water: Legend Blue!"
"Spirit of Wind: Legend Pink!"
"Spirit of Earth: Legend Green!"
"Spirit of Lightning: Legend Yellow!"
"Ancient Spirits Unite! Power Rangers: Next Legend, Start up!"
Rachel grinned and weakly said, "They did it..."
"Okay, guys let's go!" Jared called out.
"Right!"
"X-Defender!" Jared materialized a white, black and red hand gun. He fired at the Gargoyle and hit it repeatedly in the chest. His team mates followed suit.
"Vampires, attack!" Twilight possessed Vamps appeared and charged.
"X-Sword!" The Rangers materialized white, black and red swords in their opposite hands.
Jared shot a Vamp and sliced another. Noah super sped through the crowd, slashing as he went along. Liam low swept a vamp and sliced it. Alicia and Sonia stood back to back, sniping the dark creatures down.
In a matter of minutes, the vamps were dust.
"Then how about this?" The Phantom asked. "Shadowlites, attack!" Grey humanoid foot soldiers appeared and attacked.
"Rangers!" Dr. Wells' voice came through communicators in their helmets. "Use your personal weapons!"
"Spirit Weapon: Legend Sword!" A red hilted sword appeared in Jared's right hand. He slashed down three Shadowlites and blocked a strike from another.
"Spirit Weapon: Legend Kwan Dao!" A blue staff with a curved blade on the top end materialized. Noah grabbed. "I can use this like a lacrosse stick." He jumped into the air and sliced a Shadowlite down the middle. He spun in above and and jabbed another Shadowlite through the chest.
"Spirit Weapon: Legend Bow!" A pink and silver bow appeared in Alicia's left hand. She focused her energy into her right. The Pink ranger created a pink arrow made of energy and strung it. She let it fly and it ripped through many Shadowlites.
"Spirit Weapon: Legend Axe!" A green and black handled doubled bladed Axe appeared in front of Liam. He grabbed it and swung it into a Shadowlite and sent it flying into other Shadowlites.
"Spirit Weapon: Legend Daggers!" Sonia grabbed the twin daggers and struck down two Shadowlites. She front flipped forward and sliced another.
Within minutes, the rangers were only faced with the Phantom.
"I'm going have to take your spirits after I kill you!"
"Just try it!" Noah challenged.
"Let's go, guys!" Jared said. He jumped forward and slashed at the Phantom's arm. He screamed in pain and sent his other arm to swat at Jared, but Alicia shot an energy arrow into the hand. Liam jumped up and sliced it off. Noah and Sonia dashed forward and drove their weapons into the Phantom's chest.
"Guys, clear out!" Jared instructed. Noah and Sonia jumped away and Jared made the tiger hand sign. A small sphere appeared on his joined fingers.
"Soul Fire, Ignite!" The small sphere erupted into a full blown blast of fire. It clashed into the Phantom and set him on fire.
"No! Curse you, Rangers!" He disappeared in a burst of red lights.
- Dark Void -
Cepheus was shocked as he observed the battle. "Power Rangers? And using the Ancient Spirits, no less?
Roxas was shocked as well. "I should've known there'd be resistance..."
Medusa said, "They're rookies, though. We can easily beat them..."
Phoenix said nothing, he only observed Jared and grinned. He thought to himself, "A possible challenge..."
- HQ -
"Will they be ok?" Alicia asked Devon.
"Yeah, they need to rest. Their powers were stripped from them after all."
Noah cut in. "I know this may be inappropriate, but how awesome were we?"
Liam laughed. "We were pretty good."
"Yeah." Jared said. "But now we're in deeper because Rachel and the others can't fight... It's going to be a long war."
Noah draped his arm around Jared's neck. "Let's worry about that later. For now, let's hang for a bit."
"Are you serious?" Jared asked.
Dr. Wells walked to the doorway. He said, "You five deserve it. You proved that you can handle this power. From here on, your Legend starts now."
Jared nodded. "Then we'll meet it head on."
The others nodded as well, with conviction in their hearts.
As the five teleported back to the city they walked down the street together. A black cat watched them from a tree. It said to itself, "Was giving those five the Ancient powers really a good idea? Only time will tell."
- Gordon Manor -
"We'll see you tomorrow," Noah fist bumped Jared as he walked through the front doors.
"Definitely," Jared grinned, seeing his four friends off. The sunset light peered through the stained glass windows of the doors. The colored stains filtered the lights into dancing shades of red, blue, green, pink, and yellow, signaling a new hope for the world. Jared stood there until his friends disappeared down the street. He backed up, and took a breath. With a wider smile, he made his eyes glow red, he raised his right hand, and let silver ripples of energy pour out of his palm. The ripples danced around the doors, making them close.
