Chapter 1: 6 Sages?
Reading's fun. It helps come you down, and free your mind from this world, considering how crappy it is, but nevertheless, books are good for you. I always come to the library in hopes of finding something interesting to read. I saw one of my friends, Naofumi, reading this book that looked interesting. I still had trouble finding something, when I turned to him to ask about good books when he wasn't there. Hmmmm... Rather rude, but maybe the book he was reading was really good? I went to see where he got the book to see if the author was any good. A title caught my eye, The Six Sages. I don't know what exactly was good about it. It was a typical story about six mages who came together to save the world from a great calamity. Each mage represented an element, water, fire, earth, air, light, and darkness. I felt sorry for the sage of darkness, because despite his element, he had an unexpected soft side, but because of his element, people hated him, and were afraid of him, despite his kind personality. I finished skimming through the book, only to find that the last few hundred pages were blank. I thought this kind of strange, but thought nothing of it, as I was suddenly overcome with sleepiness.
Must've... forgotten... morning... coffee.

zzzz...
zzzzzz*snort*... huh?
When I woke up, I thought I was dreaming. First off, I don't like wearing long black cloaks without hoods. Second, I don't have some dark menacing staff, and lastly, I don't recall sleeping in a throne room in broad daylight! "This has to be a dream, definitely," I frantically thought. When I looked around, I found 5 others in a similar fashion, but they have different color robes and staffs, but the same bewildered look on their faces. We focused our attention to the throne, where a barreled elderly man stood in front of the throne. He looked at us and with a beaming smile exclaimed,
" Rejoice! For the six sages of old have come to save us again!"
Instantly, immediately after he said that, the room was engulfed in the sound of cheers from what looked to be the court and guards. We all looked around, our jaws meeting the floor, as these people looked at us in joy and expectation. Something seemed of about how people looked at us, they seemed to be lying at the guy in white robes, as he was happily returning their waves, but people seemed to pass over when looking at me. I looked around and compared myself to the other sages. There was someone with a red cloak (fire), one with a blue cloak (water), one with a brown cloak (earth), one with a green cloak (air), and one with a white robe (light). That left only one thing, I was wearing a black robe, which meant I was the sage of darkness, object of all prejudice and misfortune. As I was returning to my senses, I looked at the king and saw the same look that his subjects were giving us. The cheers died down, and then the king raised his hands in a signal and the gate behind us opened up to allow for a large of what looked like adventurers to enter the room. The king then proclaimed,
" Adventurers, choose your sage!"
A/N I'm really testing the waters here, being as my period stories didn't have much of a success. Please let me know how this story is so far, and I will try to lengthen chapters!
