"Gin." Matsumoto furiously said. "His death wasn't horrible enough for him. He..."
"Calm down, Rangiku," Kira whispered. "Just have another drink."
Matsumoto glared daggers at Kira. "How can I be calm? Before you met him, you were always so happy. You smiled all the time, and cracked jokes that made me want to smile, too. Then...when Gin got a hold of you..."
"Matsumoto..."
"He was like your own personal depressant! However, you never complained. You just said that he taught you about the true nature of war. You frowned, and Gin smiled. Then, when that bastard betrayed you...I was so shocked! He never even glanced your way when he left, even though you served him so faithfully..."
"Matsumoto..."
"And when I asked him why he betrayed your trust, he wasn't remorseful one bit. He asked me if my question was 'serious' and stabbed me. I'm glad you finished him off."
Kira silently sipped his sake while Matsumoto ranted on about Gin.
"...I'm sorry." Matsumoto sighed. "I...guess I finally had too much to drink."
Kira looked at Matsumoto steadily. "Are you sure? Are you not even remorseful about Gin's death? I heard that you were old friends...and he viewed you as something more."
"He might have," Matsumoto whispered, lowering her head. "But I never did. The person I cared the most about...was you."
Kira stared at Matsumoto in shock. "Are you...are you..."
"Your kindness, strength, and empathy never ceased to amaze me. I think I fell in love with you at first sight...and Gin knew that."
"Well, never mind about Gin now." Kira gently squeezed Rangiku's shoulder. "We could just forget him...together."
"...together?" Rangiku whispered. She lifted her face, which was now streaked with tears, to see Kira's. His expression seemed to have no trace of Gin's influence on it. His eyes were wider, his lips were curved, and his lips...his lips...
Rangiku couldn't help it. She threw her arms around Kira's neck, and kissed him. Kira's mouth opened in surprise. Instantly, Rangiku inserted her tongue. It roamed Kira's mouth, and explored every inch. It was like a cavern of treasures to Rangiku. A cavern of pleasing treasures, that just made her want more.
Finally, they pulled apart, breathing heavily.
"I...I don't know if I should do this, Rangiku." Kira said uneasily. "We're in a bar, and you probably had too much to drink. I don't want to do anything with you you'll later regret..."
"Regret? Me?" Rangiku asked incredulously. "I kissed you! I was dominant!"
"..."
"It's on." Kira said dangerously, before pulling Rangiku into one more kiss, which Rangiku certainly wasn't dominant in.
