The needle pierces her white, delicate skin, but she doesn't feel it—it's not much compared to the throbbing pain all over her body from being used as a human shield in the fight with the young Quincy. Her body numbs as the syringe is withdrawn, the anaesthesia containing it making its way throughout her body.
"Pathetic," a stern voice says. The disappointment held in it was evident to her.
She watches him walk away from her to a metal tray of medical instruments, each one he examines looking more painful than the last. When he finally picks up a rather sharp-looking one, he turns and walks back to her. She can't read the look on his face. "To think that I created you. I can't imagine why you're so incompetent, incapable of dealing with such minor injuries."

The 12th Division's Captain is a cruel man, even to his own Vice Captain, his daughter, but this daughter of his, she understands. She understands why this man she calls father, who grunts and complains when he has to fix her yet throws her face first in the line of danger to protect himself from harm, does what he does.
