Lucius sat staring at the bare wall in front of him. He had been there for at least an hour, deep in thought. Draco had tried to coax him out of the room, but it was no good. He just wanted to sit in his sorrow in peace.
He was sad because he was in love. This was usually something to be joyful about, but not when said love was unrequited. He had watched the man he loved for what felt like a hundred years without being able to touch him. But in reality it had only been a year. A whole year. Oh, how he wished the little minx felt the same way.
He had watched many a time how the lion had looked, eyes sparkling as he laughed at a Ministry Ball. The size of the smile nearly ripping his face in two. Lucius just wished that the smile could be directed at him.
Draco was starting to worry about his father, it wasn't like him to wallow in self-pity, but that was what he seemed to half been doing for the better part of the day. He had noticed how his father had changed this year, became down, depressed, unhappy. Draco just wished he knew what was going on so that he could help him.
The younger blonde had done everything to try and coax him from the room. Expensive chocolates imported from Belgium, Firewhiskey from Russia. But not even Severus, his father's oldest friend, could get him to move.
Draco couldn't stand it anymore; it wasn't right for his father to be like this, he was usually very happy and open within the family. It was hard to see him like this. Though many thought that he was cold and harsh, he was a loving family man. Especially to his mother, who lived in France with her second husband. Draco would often visit his grandmother, he loved it in France, and his father would go with him. Lucius doted on his mother and his uncles and aunties.
But the elder blonde hadn't visited this year and Draco knew that his grandmother suspected something was wrong. She was close to coming to stay to try and sort him out. That Draco did not want. He loved his gran dearly, but when she was angry or determined she was scary. Very frightening, even Severus didn't want to face her encase he suffered her wrath.
"Father, please. Just tell me what the matter is," Draco implored, he was getting very worried. He had never seen his father in this state before.
"Draco…" his father said back, trying to wheedle his way out of talking again.
"No, father. I am sick of this; you have been down for so long. I don't know what the problem is, but it is time that you do something about it!" Draco stated before storming out of the room.
Lucius sat there pondering for a while; maybe it was time he did something about it. But what could he do? It was true his Lion was single, but for how long? People such as Harry did not stay on the market forever.
He would have to work quickly, but what could he do?
