Title: "Fallen... The Tale of Isolde Calamon"
Author: LegolasLover2003 aka Ashley
Category: Book - "Dragonlance"
Genre: Angst/Drama
Rating: YA / PG-13
Disclaimer: I do not own any rights to the "Dragonlance" book series. I do not own the characters of Raistlin Majere, Caramon Majere, Dalamar Argent, Tanis Half-Elven, Flint Fireforge, Sturm Brightblade, Tika Waylan, Tasslehoff "Tas" Burrfoot, Kitiara Uth Matar, or any other "Dragonlance" character. I do not own the spells used, for they belong to "Dragonlance" unless otherwise noted, nor do I own the world or places/cities/villages spoke about, unless otherwise noted. I also do not own the term, 'Shalafi'. I do however, own Isolde Calamon. I made her up... though the name DOES come from a name generator on the Dragonlance Nexus website. Also, I do not own anything written/song by Evanescence. I do however own the cd. This story was written purely for my own amusement...
Author's Note: Alright, just to let you readers know, I have read the following books... "Dragons of Autumn Twilight", "Dragons of Winter's Night", "Dragons of Spring Dawning", "The Soulforge", "Brothers Majere", "Time of the Twins", "War of the Twins", "Test of the Twins", "Tanis the Shadow Years", "Kindred Spirits", and "The Magic of Krynn". I am currently reading "Brothers in Arms". As a note... everything I've learned about Raistlin and Dalamar has been either from the books, Wikipedia, or the Dragonlance Nexus website. I have taken GREAT care to construct a timeline for Isolde Calamon to follow. However, I will say now that I have very little knowledge of the events in Krynn after Raistlin's entrapment within the Abyss. I do however, know the events that surround Palin's test. Thus, I may get some events terribly wrong, and for this, I ask your forgiveness. As one may be able to tell, my favorite characters are Raistlin Majere and Tanis Half-Elven (obvious from my choice of reading material). Therefore, I will try and get everything I can about Raistlin, as correct as possible. I would like to read "Dalamar the Dark" sometime however (as well as the later books which involve him as well), because Dalamar fascinates me to no end. I also would like to point out that the title of this story is also the title of the Evanescence album which the chapter titles (and song inserts) come from. I got the idea for this story while doing the dishes, of all things. I was listening to "Fallen" and realized that every single song could, in some way, be applied to Raistlin Majere. Therefore, I decided that this story, which I had already been throwing around in my head for the last few weeks, would have a passage from each song on the album. Therefore, it may only be an eleven chapter story (though, that's not set in stone). There may also be some jumping around in or between chapters, going from Isolde as a child to her as an apprentice and so forth. But this I have also not decided upon. I think this note is long enough so, if I find anything else which needs to be noted as I write, I will make separate Author's Notes within the chapters to address any concerns.

Fallen... The Tale of Isolde Calamon
Prologue:
A Letter to the Shalafi
To My Shalafi;
Long, I know, has it been since these events transpired. I recall still your visit to me when I was but a student in the ways of magic. Your words then helped, just as your words recently have aided me in seeing the path which I now walk. For your counsel, and for the experience of being your apprentice, I am eternally grateful.
Few of our kind have studied these arts, and fewer still have known he whom the following account shall speak of.
As requested, I have written an account of some of my earliest memories. It has been almost ninety years since I met him, and still his presence remains with me and with all I do. He saved my life and I, in turn, gave mine to the magic which he loved above all others.
When I was a student, I saw this as an act of repayment for all he had done for me. As an apprentice, I saw it as an act of remembrance. Now, I see it as an act of love. I know now that I could never have undergone a Ceremony of Starlight, for the results of such would have spoken the truth to my people.
I love the magic, just as he once did, though... perhaps I have always loved him more.
Our people do not understand, Shalafi and, for that, I chose this course. You, I think, saw this in me, and I thank you for sponsoring me as a student, and taking me as your apprentice. Few in this world understand me, and only two have I meet in this world who could grasp the concepts of my heart... yourself... and him.
The magic has always, and shall always, come first, Shalafi. This past fortnight however, I have pushed the magic aside to pen this manuscript for the purpose of forever preserving this knowledge for the world.
I have never done anything to warrant remembrance in the annuals of time. You, Shalafi, have done many wonders, both for good and ill. He, if you forgive me, has done even more. Why would the world wish to remember my name when there are others of such obvious greatness to recall?
Simple.
Because I knew him.
Because I know you.
And... perhaps... because I remember a time when two brothers walked the wilds of Ansalon in the darkening of the world.
