This is set during Season 2 after THE Arthur and Gwen KISS. Gwen and Arthur love each other but will social pressure and expectations be too much for their love to withstand. Can Merlin paste the fragments together (as always) along with having to deal with the ordinary problems (you know, wizard and witch hunters, trolls, magical beings set on killing him) or will the arrival of an old 'friend' prove too much for Gwethur (Gwen and Arthur)…….

Chapter 1

"Merlin, finally, were where you?" boomed the great dragon.

"I was sleeping, like most normal beings at this time of night!" Merlin wittily replied. The dragon rolled his eyes brushing aside the comment.

"You need to do something young warlock."

"What now?" Merlin demanded and "Do you really have to tell me at this time of night?"

Ignoring this The Dragon continued "Arthur and Gwen must be together."

"What! You're joking. You woke me up in the middle of the night, made me walk in this weather causing me to be pushed to the brink of death by coldness only to tell me that, that useless unimportant piece of information that has nothing to do with me!"

"Will you just be patient? You humans always are rushing to a conclusion! Gwen must be with Arthur for without her I am afraid Camelot will not become the kingdom that it should be."

"What do you mean by should be?"

"Gwen changes Arthur for the better. Yes, alone Arthur would be a fair and just king but without Gwen it is for certain that he will uphold his father's legacy and continue to crush any traces of magic. Furthermore, insuring I will remain to be locked in this cell for the rest of eternity, left to lead a life away from the glorious sun and majestic moon. That is why Arthur and Gwen must be together. That is why you must play on the strings of their hearts to make them see it before it is too late."

"Me? I could never do that and since, it may be hard for you to notice, what with you living in a cave and all, but Arthur really likes Gwen and I'm sure she feels the same way. They will find each other when the time is right."

"My all seeing eye foresees someone who also holds a piece of Gwen's heart returning, though that piece may not be as significant as Arthur's it is still a piece nonetheless. He, unlike Arthur, is willing to give himself whole to Gwen. Guinevere fears to die a spinster and if given the opportunity would take his hand in marriage despite her devotion to Arthur."

"Who is this mystery man may I ask?"

"Lancelot"
