Resting her head upon his shoulder, Lucina exhaled a mild out-breath of distress, azure eyes worryingly spectating the small pond the two were settled in front of. The log the two perched onto wasn't the softest, but it would suffice for now. Gray clouds dimmed the minimal rays of sunshine within the area, offering a gloomy mood.

Usually the two would commence with a sword battle to accommodate the rehearsal from their previous session, but instead, all Lucina did was shake her head as he was in the middle of unsheathing his sword, and commented, "Let's rest a bit before beginning, shall we?"

Robin tilted his head somewhat towards Lucina, hearing the sigh wheeze through her lips. He moped at this, as his judgements proved to be accurate – she was troubled in some sort of way, and he was doing nothing to aid her. "Lucina," the strategist finally broke the silence that loomed about for some time. "What's wrong?"

The royal did not bother to hide her dismay. "Well, much of my free time nowadays is spent pondering on possibilities." Her thumbs twiddled fretfully on her lap, her face scrunched in remorse. "For example, I failed to prevent the death of the Exalt, which was my main goal."

This had him sulking more on the log. True, nothing could be done at that moment, but it rose bitterness within him when she blamed herself for this. He shook his head sluggishly. "That wasn't your fault."

"But that was the reason for me coming to the past."

"Was that really the only reason?" he questioned shrilly, successfully making her jump. "Not even to see your parents? Or see the state of Ylisse?"

"Well…" She ended up simply biting her lip.

Chuckling bitterly, Robin quietly draped one arm over her tiny shoulders, the ends of his fingers aligning with her navy blue locks. "Exactly. Sure, you were sent here for that, but fate had other plans ahead for you." He paused, taking the moment to lean down to her level, then use his fingers to tilt her head to him. Lucina's face was now a few centimeters away from his own, her eyes and his mouth widening. "I'm here for you," Robin reminded tenderly, inclining closer to her.

The mere sensation of his lips brushing along hers had the young princess inhaling sharply. He lingered along her mouth for a few moments, then smiled. "Always will be. You know this, right?"

Nothing but a nod followed.

This kiss was now pressed fully on her, but broken as quickly as it had begun. "Hm. Good."

Surprised, Lucina felt Robin standing up, about to grab his sword. Before she even knew what she was doing, her hand slipped over his, halting his movements. "Not yet…"

"Yes, ma'am." With a smile gracing his features, the white-haired tactician slipped back down on the log, allowing the young woman to lay her head on his shoulder again, enjoying the small ripple effects of the pond.
