Speak Softly

Disclaimer: I do not own CSI or the beautiful Sara and Grissom. I belong to them.
Author's Note: Voices in my head instructed me to create a scenario in which Grissom and Sara might have spent some quality "alone" time before he left. The story couldn't decide whether or not it wanted to be sweet or sexy. I guess you could say it was having an indentity crisis. Either way, I hope it makes someone out there feel good . No flames please...I know where you live.
This is dedicated to every GSR fan out there!!!!
A night off that is meant for two people and two people alone was slowly being infiltrated by a dozen whispers in Grissom's mind. He could hear the faint echoes of curious students with questions, the droning of a flight attendant that lacked Sara's warm smile, his own voice cracking as he whispered goodbye.
But what really reverberated through his heart was the question coming from Sara's lips, a question so soft and heartbreaking "How will I sleep without you?". All though none of this had yet transpired as he swayed in the kitchen, dancing with the woman of his dreams.
Somewhere inside he knew he would come to know these sounds very well in the following weeks. They would resonate through his conscience during inappropriate time such as now. He held Sara tighter and she lifted her head off of his shoulder to look into his eyes.
"Something is wrong".
Grissom searched her eyes for a moment before giving in.
"Yes... I won't be able to hold you like this for a while. I guess I'm letting the idea of loneliness get to me prematurely."
Speaking the words made him automatically feel silly for indulging in that kind of self pity. He still had the rest of the night with Sara, why ruin it now?
"It's hard not to think about it...I'm just happy to have you all to myself tonight."
Grissom's mouth curved into a small smile. He didn't have to thank her for understanding. She could read him in moments like this, without words. Sara laid her head back down on his shoulder as the song ended. She surprised him by gently nipping his earlobe and then sucking lightly on it. He still couldn't believe the kind of shivers he would get from the little touches and kisses that this amazing woman lavished on him.
She whispered in that tone of hers, the one that made her sound raw with need.
"I'm picturing us right now, bare skin...tangled in the sheets, tangled in each other..."
Grissom lifted her chin towards him and looked at her intently. The twinkle in her eyes was definitely amusement mixed with unconditional love. He poured everything he felt into that look,
touching the soft skin of her face, admiring the way the her peaches and cream complexion was framed by her silky, cinnamon curls. He finally found his voice.
"I'm going to love you Sara Ann Sidle, the way no one has ever loved you. Because you deserve it."
She felt warm tears trickle down her cheeks. Finally there was someone to wipe them away.
Thanks for reading and reviewing...you guys are the stars in my sky.
