A/N: Thought I would go through and at least make it sound a little better. Not much was changed but I fixed all the spelling errors. xD Enjoy!
The two figures raced along the collapsing runway; the only way to survive and not die was to keep sharp attention, and keep running.
Two things crossed the blue speedster's mind as he ran alongside his black-and-red counterpart; 'Stay alive, and get to the emerald.' The same could be said for Shadow, ruby eyes fixated on the runway ahead that seemed to continue on forever. The only difference was that he stayed confident in saying to himself that he would get to the desired item first; the last Chaos Emerald.
"You run fast, Shadow. But can you match my speed?" the emerald-eyed hedgehog said with a challenging tone. Shadow glanced over, narrowing his eyes before he pushed himself to go faster; Sonic out right laughed, as he picked up the pace. Neither were winning, as they both did their damndest to get to it.
"You look tiered, faker." Shadow said smoothly, calmly, as he ran along; his running was actually more of a skating motion. It was smooth, his feet never once touching the ground, never once missing a beat. His tone was casual as if they were talking about the day's weather forecast. Sonic panted slightly, as he continued to run along, a few beads of perspiration running down his face.
"Nah...I'm fine..." he said in a fake good-naturedly tone. "You seem to be slowing down just a bit." Indeed he was; however as soon as this was said, ruby eyes narrowed into almost slits, as he speed up, skating just a foot or two in front of him. Sonic saw this, and stopped suddenly. Quickly he curled himself into a blue, spiky ball, winding himself up before he let go. He sped down the endless track, soon meeting up with Shadow, and proudly passing him up, as the black-and-red hedgehog sent him death glares. In no time he unfolded himself quickly, gaining immense speed; the end of the platform was thrust upon him suddenly, the last emerald coming into view. Sonic dived at it, clasping the precious jewel in his hands, skidding to a halt on his back; thankfully his quills protected him from any real harm.
Not a moment later did Shadow skid to a halt in front of Sonic, scowling and swearing under his breath. Standing, he held the gleaming gem up, giving his trade-mark grin.
"Awright! I got it before you! Not only does this prove I'm faster than you, I'm also just all around better." he said, punching a white-gloved hand into the air in triumph. Shadow quickly advanced on him, ruby-red eyes reduced to mere slits.
The three most expected words came flowing out of his mouth with such spite, "I hate you."
Sonic blinked, his own emerald eyes narrowing as well.
"You're preachin' to the choir," he said harshly.
Shadow continued to advance on him, quickly making his way up and in his face. Sonic was not prepared, as he fell back on his rear-end, leaning backwards as the black hedgehog leaned closer, their noses touching.
"Every time I see you, every fucking time you open your mouth...anytime you do anything at all, you get my blood boiling." he said quietly and calmly, although his eyes were blazing with furry. He quickly hoisted him up, placing his hands on the back of his head before smashing his lips against the younger hedgehog's. It was a desperate kiss, meaning almost nothing as Sonic struggled to get away. His efforts failed quite quickly as he gave in though, kissing back just as fiercely. However as quickly it had started, it ended, Shadow pulling away and panting. He shoved Sonic to the ground, as the blue hedgehog tightened his grip on the Chaos Emerald.
Shadow turned his back on him, before saying, "I will always hate you, faker."
