Disclaimer: I do not own Vampire Hunter D, it's world, or it's characters. All of those belong to the famous and amazing Hideyuki Kikuchi, and anyone he had sold the rights to. That does not include me. I do not make any profit from this fanfiction, and no copyright infringement is intended. I only own this spin-off of his world, nothing else that is recognizable as the world or characters of Vampire Hunter D.

She would never see him again. She knew that. It didn't stop her from wishing, though. It never stopped anyone from wanting to see his face just one more time. That beautiful face… A face that any man would kill to have, and any woman would kill to call hers.

But it wasn't just the unearthly beauty that made it impossible to forget Vampire Hunter D. It was his presence. He was lethal, yes—extremely. Even without seeing his skill first, it was impossible to doubt him; his every movement, every smooth, assured movement, breathed of death.

That tall, brilliant figure sheathed in black; the sword strapped across his broad back that could kill ten men in one swing, one flash of silver streaking the blue sky with its metallic sheen, haunting everyone who saw it for the rest of their days; the azure pendant around his neck that made her clutch her own hand to her chest, feeling the cold surface of the stone beneath her palm.

She swallowed, looking out at the old dirt road she saw him leave by. She would never see him again, that magnificent warrior. Yet, in a few short days, he had changed her life forever.
