Sad Kiss
Seeking Shelter
"Gamma team, do you readme?!" Nightwing's voice shouted through the comm-link that laid on the ground; having fall out of Tim's ear as he fell over. They had been sent to one of the many oil-rigs off the coast, to search
and rescue; their intel had revealed minimal personnel. It was supposed to be nothing more than a warehouse.
How wrong they had been.
Immediately as he scouted ahead, Blue Beetle was hit with an EMP mine, and was now stuck somewhere down below, hiding. Hopefully. Robin and Lagoon Boy reported their missing teammate and went in to search. Luckily for the Atlantian,
a storm was raging; unfortunately for Gamma Team, it was an artificial one. Robin noticed when his earpiece only produced static.
"Hn-!" He clutched his side, eyes wide as he searched for a rail to grab onto before he landed on the catwalk. "Oof! Argh.." He felt his skull crash into the unforgiving metal, tangy copper taste filling his mouth; a blinding flash
of light overtaking his vision for a few seconds.
"Robin!" Who- was that Blue?
"Nnng..."
He felt the catwalk shudder violently and suddenly he was picked up in humongous arms, too big for Blue; too friendly for him to be worried. His weight shifted until he rested firmly in the crook of the scaly arm. A hand removed
his and prodded and-
Fire, white-hot searing pain spread from his side, shooting up into hjs heart and burning his throat. He hadn't been aware he was crying out in pain until the hand moved to cover his mouth.
"Shit! That bullet didn't graze you!" Laga'an growled, casting his angry glare upwards. He searched for something Robin couldn't be bothered with. Until he felt himself crushed into Laga'an's chest.
"Fuck!" He curled into his friend, barely able to breathe.
A violent jostle here, shaking there and being dropped once or twice as his friend fought to protect him. Suddenly, the cold air and rain was replaced by brisk and dry air. A shack; perfect.
"Hah," Laga'an gasped, sliding down the wall so he could set Robin on his legs. "We... We should be fine until Blue finds us..."
"Hey."
"Hey."
"Hey..!"
"Hey! Wake up!" He felt himself get shaken; blinding jokts of pain waking him up.
"Mmmmmm'up!" Robin sighed, closing his eyes again, until he felt his friend's sharp finger poke his forehead.
"Stay awake, bird-brain."
"Mhmm."
"Eyes open."
"Yeah... Yeah..." Still his eyes did not open.
"Son of a... Hey! Come on, open your eyes! I-It's really not... F-Funny..."
Deep breaths. Remember your training, don't freak out. Stop the bleeding, okay...Except blood was not pumping out of the wound anymore. With a shaky hand, he craddled Robin's head softly. He planted a soft kiss on
his bird's forehead.
