Chapter 1
Sixteen-year-old Annie Raines walked downstairs to see her parents seated at the breakfast table.
"Hi, mom. Hi, dad. How are you two this morning?" she asked, planting a kiss on each of their cheeks.
"Morning, my princess. I'm doing well. How about you, sweetheart?" Dr. Raines replied, as Annie seated herself at the table.
"Morning, Annie. I'm doing well. What do you have planned for today, darling?" Edna replied at the same time.
"I'm doing well. I'm just going to go to school and then stop by the library to check out a few books. How about you guys?" Annie asked.
"Work, work, work. Just a typical day" Dr. Raines replied, laughing.
"Are you ready for your test today?" Edna asked.
"I sure am, mom. I studied really hard last night." Annie replied.
Suddenly a horn sounded outside the house.
"That's my bus. I'd better go. Have a great day. Love you both!" Annie said, hurriedly picking up her things.
"Love you too, Annie!" both parents called out as the door closed behind their daughter.
Annie boarded the bus and sat down next to her friend Jessica.
"Ready for that test in World History today?" Jessica replied.
"I hope so. I studied my butt off for it last night!" Annie replied laughing.
When they arrived at the Cab Calloway School of the Arts, Annie attended her art and general education classes. World History was her last class of the day. She arrived at the classroom and sat down at her desk.
"Now, I am going to pass out the test. Keep your eyes on your own paper. I will not tolerate cheating." Mr. Johnson, the teacher, said.
Mr. Johnson passed out the test and sat down at his desk. Annie flew through the test and double-checked her answered. Confident she had done her best, Annie rose from the desk and turned the test in. When the bell rang, Annie and Jessica walked out to the bus and talked until the bus dropped Annie off at the library.
What do you think? I'm going to continue with a look into how Raines' day at work went, but how do you like it thus far?
