The Lost Child, Found
My mind spins with rage,
And unrelenting guilt.
I failed again, and my friends
Lost her because of me.
Then River Song appears, a mystery herself,
Who could have averted the day's horrors,
But refused to help.
An argument ensues, ending the same,
With a question of her past,
And her reason for staying.
I expect no response, as it usually is,
But now I press, and insist.
Anger roaring in my ears.
"Tell me, River." I growl,
Breath hissing like a snake.
In answer, only the name of
Amy's lost child.
Realization comes later,
And I am still.
Joy and jubilation
And I understand with a chill.
River is she.
She is River.
One and the same,
Forever and ever.
It all makes sense now,
And I know what I must do.
Away with a whoosh and a screech and a bang,
To find the lost child, Melody Pond,
To find the lost child, River Song.
