"No! I can't be sick! I have a Wonderbolt show later today!" bickered Rainbow Dash as she sat in the doctor's office. She had been sniffling and coughing for almost a week and her friends had to force her to get checked on. The doctor stood and stared at the young rainbow maned pony with annoyance.
"Well, I am sorry, but you have a cold. I suggest a good rest at home." Rainbow almost threw up at the sound of that word, 'rest'. Resting was not in her vocabulary.
"Excuse me, but did the word that just escaped from your mouth sound like the word, 'rest'?" sneered Rainbow, glaring at the doctor.
"Yes."
"I am not going to just...lay in my house all week or however long it takes! That's so boring!" coughed Rainbow.
"Then I am afraid you will take a very long while to heal," replied the doctor, stating a fact. Rainbow sat there, wide eyed, staring at the doctor.
"Ugh!" she shouted, storming out of the office.
It was a very nice day in the calm town of Ponyville. Everyone was happy, except a certain cyan pegasus who was angrily flying toward her cloud house. She was mumbling to herself, which for her was pretty normal. She can't miss that show, she loved flying with them. On the other hoof, it was just an average show which was ok if she was absent.
"Hey Rainbow!" greeted Twilight, flying up to her friend.
"Hey Twi," mumbled Rainbow, angrily. Twilight giggled, knowing her friend was once again upset over something silly.
"Hehe so what'd the doctor say?"
"That I have to 'rest'," Rainbow taunted, imitating the doctor's voice. Twilight raised an eyebrow.
"Well, if you ever wanna get better, that's what has to be done I'm afraid," she chuckled. Rainbow turned and glared at the alicorn flying next to her. "Well? Do you wanna get better? You can't always have everything your way," stated Twilight. Rainbow grumbled at the young princess, she knew she was right.
"It's just, I have a Wonderbolt show today!"
"Rainbow, it's ok if you miss. A reserve will take your place. It's ok to miss things if you're not at your best. And besides, when your sick, your immune system is already weak. So if you don't rest, you could catch something else, possibly worse," explained Twilight.
"You're right Twilight," sighed the rainbow pony. The two ponies arrived at Rainbow's house. "Thanks for flying home with me."
"No problem, it's a slow princess day I guess. I suppose I'll just head home and read some of my many many books," giggled the purple pony. "I hope you feel better, Rainbow," Twilight said again, putting her hoof on her shoulder.
"Thanks, just rest right?"
"Exactly. Resting is the best medicine for a cold." Rainbow smiled and went inside her home.
It was chilly, though that could just be her cold that's making it feel frigid. She walked into her room, and fell onto her bed and stared at the cloudy ceiling. It was extremely quiet. And Rainbow Dash was extremely bored, she had read all her Daring Do books and is currently waiting for the new ones to be released.
"I'm going to die of boredom soon, before this cold. Though...I never heard of anypony dying from the common cold. Can you die from it?" thought Rainbow. Tons of random thoughts filled her head. This was going to be a long week.
