You've heard the tales of the 3 who killed the blackened heart of the vex, the six who delved into the caverns of Venus and killed the free-willed gate lord Atheon and the guardians who soaked Crota's sword in his own blood. But now it is time for a different story; a guardian like any other but soon she would become an abomination, an outcast and a creature of pure darkness.

The awoken were about to make their attack but right now it was my turn. The queen had called upon me a few weeks back to be part of the assault on Oryx. I was once regarded awoken myself but after I was recruited a guardian they disowned me by accepting the light I had disgraced them and so I went my own way, but the recent disaster called for co-operation between the reef and the tower so here I was, Oli Suldrein, working with the people who rejected me for whom I had become.

After a few hours of flying we arrived at Saturn's rings, ready to lead the assault the queen's brother known to me as Uldren Sov, known to others as "the master of crows." He opened a com- link between our team and told us to move in for landing, "our goal is to find Oryx and put a bullet through his skull" the com system crackled out only slightly disguising the fear in his usually cocky voice

As we moved in a little closer I felt my body start to reconstruct in a different place. At first I watched my short slim legs disappear then slowly it moved around the rest of my, hardly worthy to be a guardian, figure lastly reaching the smooth edges of my pale blue cheeks and wrapping around my bright red eyes, blazing like fires as strong as ever. As my vision returned but instead through the safety of my helmet I took a moment to observe the halls of the dreadnought, the flagship of hive fleet, rotten walls almost alive with movement from its chitin plating, it certainly lived up to the name of the "first sight of death".

We marched through the halls dispatching of most of the cabal, fallen, vex and even hive themselves who had become vessels of Oryx's destruction, the taken as they were best known. On the way we lost maybe twenty to the bottomless pits of the living hell that best described this ship another thirty to the taken who guarded it and the remaining ten… well we were sure death waited ahead

That's when it happened. When he appeared. It was all part of the plan weaken us, reduce our numbers and when we least expect it… come to us. Within a single swipe from his satanic sword 5 awoken soldiers watched in horror as their last sight was of their own guts soaked in red, slowly pooling on the floor. His attention turned to the other guardian with us a titan wearing heavy blood soaked armor, I could sense the fear that fell upon him freezing his muscles until even his mind gave in and he took off his helmet and placed one last bullet through his own head. After that it was mostly a blur the remaining two awoken dead by means to even think of made me feel a sickness deep inside me

Me and Uldren were the only two left, the soulless gaze of that bastard Oryx turned to him… and then something in me snapped, I knew I had only made it this far because him countless times taking a stray bullet for me or giving me the last of the medical supplies for my wounds. Now… now it was my turn; an orb of pure darkness started to form in Oryx's scaled hand, he was trying to take Uldren, I thought maybe the light infused in my body could shield me to this but really I knew what came next, my body being flung back into the wall and then laying there limp as the darkness clouded my mind. With the last of my will draining away I told my ghost to get Uldren out of there and that she belonged to him now.
