All I can remember passing out on my bed after a long session with my gaming consoles and when I woke up, I was not in my bed. I was standing on Route 3, not far from my hometown, Pewter City. I had been known to sleepwalk, and waking up standing was not a new concept to me, but I never walked this far. Not in my sleep. I wondered if this was a dream. I never have any sense of touch in my dreams, so I rubbed my fingers together. This confirmed that I wasn't dreaming.
Not thinking much of it, I tried to walk, but my legs would not move, no matter how much I tried. I couldn't even turn my head. I moved my eyes, examining the field around me. I saw a few other people, seeming to be caught in the same predicament that I had found myself in. I tried calling out to the nearest person, but no matter how much I wanted to, I couldn't talk.
I began to panic. But there was something else that was strange, a faint song seeming to come from nowhere. The song was upbeat, with several synthesizers accompanying a flute and snare drum. It was vaguely militant in feeling, the rhythm of the snare drum seeming to be used to put the listener into an ambitious state of mind. Then, a boy, dressed mainly in red, came into my field of view.
Suddenly, the faint music changed. It was now all synthesizers playing an extremely repetitive tune. Suddenly, I felt an uncontrollable urge to walk. I gave into this urge, trying to walk home.
My legs were moving!
However, I couldn't walk home, instead walking straight to this boy in red. Somehow in my mind, I knew his name, Red. Suddenly, as if all of my energy I ever had in my life was concentrated into my voice, I spoke.
"Hi! I like shorts! They're comfy and easy to wear!"
Okay, my voice worked. However, I don't know what made me say that. The music changed again, this time the song was rather energetic, as if to spur soldiers into battle.
That's exactly what we did.
We had a Pokemon battle. I wasn't fully focused on it, mainly because I was trying to figure out what was going on. Red won after a few hits to my Pokemon.
"I don't believe it!" I cried out, more of a knee jerk reflex than anything, my voice full of energy.
Afterwards, I felt as if I woke from a terrible nightmare. I tried to walk again, hoping that my legs would carry me home at last.
They did not.
However, I found that I could move, only my feet remained firmly rooted where they were. I looked around. Would this be where I lived?
I resigned to the feeling of melancholy that ensued as the music lulled me into a sensation that I would learn to call 'sleep'.
Three years of standing in the same spot resulted in the ground becoming worn down to dirt. I saw Red again today. Nothing special. We battled. Red won. I still don't know what is going on. The music continued on untiringly. I looked around me after the battle, noticing something close to me that I hadn't before.
A rock.
A slight smile appeared on my face for the fist time in three years. This rock was my ticket out of here.
Would it hurt?
