"Marlene and her family are dead." Remus's sound echoed in the Hallway of Godric's Hollow. Sirius looked up at him as if he heard him wrong. Lily dropped the cup she was holding and let out a weep. Peter did not look at any of his friends but he felt his eyes welling up. James stood there stuck, he couldn't see or hear anything.
Lily wanted to cry aloud. She remembered how they used to be best friends. She remembered how they used to crack lame jokes at the end of the day and how much Lina loved talking about boys. She remembered how Lina used to tease her when James was around. She remembered everything like it happened yesterday.
James remembered how close he was with his cousin and how annoyed she get when he call her Rel. They grew up together, fighting and playing. He remembered how much pleasure he found in pestering Rel. He remembered how she helped him to patch up with Lily. He remembered all those pranks they planned and executed together as kids during summers. He remembered how he loved her chuckle whenever he crack jokes. He remembered everything and wanted that to happen again.
Peter remembered how nice Lien was to him. How she spat at Snape for bullying him in his friends' absence. He remembered having fun with her during Hogsmeade visits and throwing snowballs at each other during winter. He remembered how much he liked her brown almond eyes filled with kindness. He remembered everything and wished if it was him, not her.
Remus remembered how bright and friendly Mary was. How she helped him with his notes he missed. How she comes up with new logical doubts and how they used to spend time in library searching for new things to experiment on. He thought of that night detention with Hagrid when she apologized a hundred times for pulling him imto that small prank and how she was worried that his image was going to be affected. He remembered how her cheeks used to blush whenever he said thanks for those chocolates. He remembered everything and wished to go back to time.
Sirius remembered all those backfiring pranks- Mae was too smart for those. He remembered how easily he fell for her. He remembered how strong the slap was for shouting that he loved her and need to kiss her. He remembered how she used to flip her brunette wavy hair when she was either too happy or distressed. He remembered their first kiss, how special he felt at that moment. He remembered how much he loved her and wanted her. He remembered everything and regretted not marrying her early like James did.
But all that they could do was that. Remember how special she was for Lily and the Marauders. Remember the good old days. As it was long gone. Both the days and the person who gifted them those.
