In His Arms

I can barely remember...

It seemed so long ago...

The laughter...

The joy...

It is all so distant now...

Yet, I find myself...

...waiting.

Piercing azure eyes scanned the area quickly, swiftly jumping from one branch to another. The small youko's adrenalin pumped faster and faster as her pursuers gained speed, catching up to her fleeing form. Her dazzling auburn mane flowed freely behind her as she jumped over a rotted tree fallen in her path.

Kuso, kuso, kuso! Who would have thought that this small, insignificant bottle would cause so much trouble to steal. Although it did radiate with beauty and the design was gorgeous, it must fetch a hefty price for the liquid inside alone. So much for insignificant.

She 'eeped' at the sound of arrows whizzing passed her body, few embedding themselves in the trees in front of her view. The hair on the back of her neck stood on end; she was almost there and would not be stopped. The distant yells of the theives behind her only made her run faster. Ducking under an overgrown branch, she was gone in an instant.

--"What?! It is way more valuable than that! You cheap skate!" Lengthy fingers quickly tucked her loot away, her anger visible as she stormed out of the building, the smell of grime and sweat invading her senses. Long gleaming tails swished forcefully behind her, the black tips of her tails sweeping away at the dirt on the ground. Her deep depths of blue gazed at the passing youkai, their unkept clothing and disreguard for others was common, as was the stench they emitted to pollute the air. The scowl had not left her face as she roamed the market, looking for a suitable buyer, with the right price of course.

"We're looking for a Hashi, Ryu, have you seen her?" Exiting another store once again, her coal black ears trained onto the voices she heard. Debating on whither to leave or investigate the scene raged on in her mind, curiosity getting the best of her. Casually, she headed over to the group of 'mixed' beings, even a lowly ningen in their ranks, pathetic. She watched the youkai they had asked shake his head no and scurry off, glancing back at the group before making a sharp turn out of sight.

"I heard you're looking for me." She spoke up, a hand on her hip, her weight shifting to one side of her body.

"Ryu Hashi I presume?" A half-breed addressed her, tucking away a piece a paper that most likely held most of her life information.

"I did just say that, didn't I." Her hand hovered over her dagger hidden at her side.

"Please, will you accompany us back to our headquarters? We have much to discuss." Another intervened, letting the hanyou cool off at her last comment, most likely so he didn't screw up this encounter.

"Discuss what exactly?" She was being cautious, careful not to prance off with a bunch of goons once again.

"It concerns your brother."

A ringing sounded in her ears as they quickly laid flat against her head, her eyes formed into a glare as the hair on her body stood on end at the mention of him.

"My brother died…" She swallowed the lump in her throat, threatening to show her last meal to all those around her. This is a trick… She heard herself screaming in her mind. "How could this have anything to do with him?"

"Please," The lavender haired youkai motioned for me to follow him and his comrades, "Come with us." They all seemed pretty equipped with weapons, not to mention strength, this decision could be her last. 'How stupid could I be, of course I wouldn't go with them.' Yet as she pondered the situation, she found her feet moving, the hope he was still alive pushing her to find out more.
