Ryu Hayabusa placed a cool cloth on the still girl's forehead, sighing heavily to himself. He had stumbled upon her during one of his patrols to make sure that none of the rival clans were getting close to his village when he spotted her lying face down near the lake, cuts and bruises apparent on her body. There had been blood pools under her, soaking her clothes and scaring the life out of him.
He had lifted her up bridal style and teleported back to his village before heading into his family house and placed her on his bed where he could nurse her back to health. She was so pale and still. There had been a moment where he had almost lost her but she prevailed, fighting and came back to him. He had been weak with relief.
Coming out of his thoughts, Ryu looked down at the sleeping woman in his bed and remembered the time her brother had made him promise to protect her, no matter what. Even now, he still held onto that promise despite she was now a run-away of her clan, doing what no one else had the courage to do and it had resulted in her being branded as a traitor, to be hunted everyday by her own family and whoever they could call upon to bring her head back to them.
"Even if the world wants you dead, I will always be by your side," he promised in a whisper, placing a kiss to her forehead and left her alone to heal in peace.
