Four's POV

"5, 4, 3..."

Wait. Did the clock just say my name? The clock ticks, counting the seconds until we all rip each other to shreds. In these games, only one comes out and I'm determined that I can win. I look around. I can see everyone: One, Two, Three, Five, Six, Seven, Eight, Nine, Sarah, Sam, Adam and the rest are simply vat born mogs. I will win. I can do this. Remember what Henri said; grab a dagger and get out. It should be simple enough. It has to be.

"2, 1…"

The cannon booms as I sprint off of my platform. Since I can run faster than humans, it takes me a short 6 seconds to reach the cornucopia. I'm not the only fast one. Nine, Eight and Six have also reached the cornucopia. Grab a dagger, get out. The words echo in my head. Hastily, I look around; my eyes land on the first knife I see: six inches, insanely sharp. I grab it and turn to run.

For a moment, I fear one of the stronger ones like Nine, Six or even Adam will come after me. I take one last look at the cornucopia as I run.

About a mile into the forest, I realize that I had forgotten all about my legacies. My Lumen will be one of my best weapons. I wonder what legacies the other have. I heard Six can turn invisible. That may be a problem. And then there's that Sarah girl… what can she do?

I'm deeper into the forest now. Hours must have gone by since my stop at the cornucopia. I stop and suddenly realize how tired I am. I bend over, hands on knees, trying to regain my breath. Suddenly, I hear a crunching of leaves. I light up my Lumen, terrified as I wonder who this could be. Two? Three? Finally, I look to find Sarah, unarmed and otherwise defenseless. The look on her face tells me she's feeling no braver than I am.
