Summery: The breakup.
"Finally I realize I'm nothing without you. I was wrong forgive me."
She didn't forgive him and Zane sat with his feet in the pool trying not to think about it. At first it felt like his heart had been shattered then he went numb as the pieces were washed away. When she looked away he'd bit his tongue and tried not to show too much emotion. He looked down at his hands they were still shaking. He was trying desperately to hold it together. No one was home, but he knew if he let it out now it wouldn't stop.
He'd thought he couldn't live a day without her. Not after knowing what he'd lost. As the days past he thought he was going to be fine. He hadn't seen her in a week. He would purposefully avoid the places he knew she would be. Locking himself in his room all day was the best plan he had until school started again and every time he saw her pass by he would cry out how much he missed her. The pain would only swell up more at her silent response. She pretended like he didn't exist.
Now he didn't care who saw him or heard his pleas. He would go to the JuiceNet Café and watch her from behind a computer screen. After her shift she sits down with another guy and Zane's heart shatters again. He knows his hopes are in vain. He watched the other guy carefully taking note of all his actions and his sadness turns to anger. Zane stared him in the eye and dared him to ever make her cry. Emma felt Zane's glare and their eyes met for a second. Enough time for Zane to mouth 'You're my all'. She looked away casually and denied to herself that she had even looked up. Zane stood up and walked toward her table.
"Day after day." He said as he passed by.
"I wish I could say the same." He heard her whisper.
Turn around and leave without turning back he kept saying to himself. He felt like he was fading into grey and soon there would be nothing left of him. All his happiness was slowing seeping out and the only thing he could think about was her. He didn't want to have a single regret so he decided to accept this other guy in her life. He would keep living as always. As if there was nothing wrong. The outbursts stopped and her smile slowly returned. He hoped she felt relieved after leaving him. He could only try to forget and just live on. He let the tears fall freely now as day after day he wished they had never met. Prayed that they could have kept their promise to outlast eternity. It was buried deep inside them both. He stopped her as they crossed paths one night and reminded her. She only looked down at her feet.
"I can't stop thinking about you about what I did and the least you could do is answer me." Zane tried to say normally though his voice was strained.
"Goodbye." Emma said quietly.
"All my love-"
"Don't lie to me Zane."
"You're my heart."
"Say goodbye."
She made him say it. She made him move on. There was nothing more he could do.
