Another requesr from tate310, this time it's "Cranky Bugs" from Season 5. Enjoy and comment.
Thomas and Percy enjoy working at the docks. They love the sea air and the seagulls.
But one day the two engines were feeling hot and bothered. A crane was causing trouble. His name is Cranky, and it was his first day at the docks.
"You are both really useful bugs!" he called from above. "If you put these freight cars on the inside line, then I wouldn't have far to travel!"
"Rubbish!" said Thomas. "No crane has ever complained before!"
"Well I'm complaining now!" he said as he banged his load down on the siding.
Later that morning, Thomas and Percy saw Gordon and James resting by the pier and told them about Cranky.
"Cranes are airy things." said Gordon proudly. "They need more attention, like me!"
"No wonder he calls you bugs!" added James.
When Cranky heard that the big engines agreed with him, he grew even more bossier!
"Come on, push those freight cars closer to me!"
But Percy was too cross to focus and pushed the freight cars too far, resulting in a load of sand being dropped all over him! Poor Percy!
Then Cranky pulled a trick on Thomas.
"Push your freight cars onto the outside line. It's easier for me to load up!"
So Thomas did.
But Cranky left the loads beside the freight cars, not in them!
"You should have known that my arm can't reach you there!"
This caused confusion and delay. Sir Topham Hatt was the most annoyed.
"Thomas and Percy, this new crane has an important job to do. I've heard you haven't been helping him out. As punishment for not helping Cranky out, I'm sending you back to the sheds, until you can learn to respect yourselves and others."
Now Thomas and Percy were very upset.
But that night, a massive storm raged across Sodor.
Cranky and the engines were trapped at the docks. Duck was worried.
"We should be safe in this shed." said Duck.
But he was wrong! What the other engines didn't know was that a large steam tramper ship was heading towards the sheds. The engines didn't notice, until it was too late! The ship came trumbling through, knocking Cranky over and trapping the other engines!
When the storm was over, Sir Topham Hart raced to the site of destruction.
"Thomas and Percy will help you!" he called, "and you will help the other engines!"
"Please hurry, and tell them I'm sorry for being rude!"
"So it was you?! I owe those engines an apology!"
Thomas and Percy soon came to the rescue, and it wasn't long before everything was back to normal!
"Thank you Cranky!" said Gordon.
"You're welcome! However, Percy is in the way, so move!"
"Don't move Percy!" cried the other engines, but it was too late! Cranky was knocked over again!
Cranky still keeps an eye on Thomas and Percy, but ever since then, he never calls them "bugs" because he knows they might bite back.
