Miku's round cheeks had flushed to a pink color while she was playing outside with her best friend, Luka. It was a few weeks into summer, and it had been pretty hot anyway this year. Their summer dresses had stuck to their backs as they desperately tried to fan themselves off when Luka spoke up. "Who's idea was it anyway to come out, it's so~ hot." She pouted while plopping down next to Miku in the somewhat shaded grass. Luka had always been the shy kid, and she liked staying in and playing with various toys better than being outside.

"Well, I thought maybe we could do something fun..but I guess I was wrong.. Ever since they tore down the park, there's been nothing to do." The teal haired girl spoke while somewhat sticking out her tongue. It was about 3:00 pm, so the sun was getting to the stages of early sunset, but the heat was relentless. Pink and orange wispy clouds started to appear on the pale purple background. The longer they laid in the grass the redder they're skin became, until finally Miku spoke again. "Maybe we should just go home..." and she let out a sigh.

Luka nodded agreeing and they picked up their few things. Water bottles, empty snack containers, flip flops..and so on, but then in the distance a song began to play. This song grew pretty quickly and they both figured out what it was at the same time. "Ice cream!" they shouted simultaneously.

"Ah, I think I have enough change in my pocket for both of us!" Luka shouted running ahead. "I bet I can beat you there!" Miku instantly ran after the other girl, he bare feet pounding the cement, which quite hurt but she didn't care, she'd have ice cream soon! When she arrived at the truck, Luka had already lined up. There were at least 7 children there and Luka was next.

"Ah, c'mon. Get ahead of me." Luka smiled and handed Miku the money. "I'm gonna stand over there, but I want a chocolate cone, 'kay?" Miku nodded and patted Luka on the head.

"I got this! Easy as pie!" She put her hands on her hips like Super Woman, which caused Luka to giggle out loud. Miku got her friend's request and then a vanilla cone for herself. "Alright, let's go to my house then!" Luka said through bite of ice cream. Miku had already gotten it all over her face, but didn't seem to mind it much and continued eating anyway.

"We should play concerts when we get there, I wanna be a pop idol! I can sing all my favor-" Miku was cut off by an unexpected rock tripping her. She didn't fall, but it knocked her cone right out of her hands. Luka stopped in her tracks to check on Miku, very concerned. "Oh no..I'm sorry Miku.." Luka apologized, even though there wasn't anything for her to do to prevent it..

All Miku could do was stare at the quickly melting pool that once was her treat, as the ants swarmed it. It must have been because she was tired, because that was all it took for her to collapse into crying. In a mess of sobbing and slobber, she got out the words "I-iIw w-w

w-anted t-to eat th- at so oo badddd. Now th ice man is probabb bb bbly gone..!" It was hard for Luka to make out anything, but she patted Miku's back. After a few seconds of slobbering Luka took a last bite out of her ice cream and bent down to Miku's level. Her thumb brushed across Miku's pink cheeks wiping off the tears that were staining her dress.

"Here.. You can have this." The pinkette slightly smiled while holding it out. "I don't even want it anymore." The younger girl's eyes widened at the other's warm hand on her face, and then she smiled. "Thanks Luka.. You really are the best friend ever.." Miku said while kissing her forehead. "Let's share it!"

They walked back to Luka's house while holding hands in between bites.
