The Twist of the Tide
(A different scenario)
Description: After the great bungee jump in "Leap of Faith" the tables turn. Jessi + Kyle!
A/N: Hiya! I'm a luva of the Jessi/Kyle (A little obvious…) so here's what I kind of wish would happen just because it's a fun character development and is good for my shippery heart. Enjoy! R&R (no hater stuff and/or flaming!)
There was a large bruise on Kyle's left arm when he first woke up. He felt a scar on his cheek, water soaking his hair and clothes, and an overall soreness like someone had tried to use him as a hammer for putting together their palm tree hammock. He opened his eyes and saw sky, and trees. He smelled the usual pinecone but the forest was almost never filled with a scent. He'd found it strange that the city could produce such foul odors when the forest lacked any. Unless he went up close to a flower.
Usually he woke up to the alarm clock in his room, so this was a change. Kyle tried to sit up, but his arms ached and a soft hand stopped him.
"Ssh." The voice hushed him, and Kyle grabbed the closest thing he could- an arm. It was wrapped around him and was balancing his head on a lap. Someone's lap.
"Oh," he continued, "Where am I?"
Everything looked so dizzy and blurry, like that time he fell unconscious on the carousel. Was he overusing his hearing again? That always hurt so much, like a migraine that flashes on and off. It also worried him too much to use again. Adam warned him. Did he listen?
The voice didn't reply, but the hands started to lift him gently. They were moving him away from the water and to a dryer spot. The sun was brighter in this new spot, it hurt his eyes. The blur seemed to straighten and he recognized it by the dark soaked hair (like his), soaked clothes, same bruises and cuts… the jumper.
"Jessi…" he used the strongest voice he could manage, but it squeaked a little. He tried to grab her arm but she moved away. Amanda always told him he could be an Olympic swimmer… did he jump in too? Jessi got off her feet and stumbled away behind the trees and deeper into the woods. He tried to call after her, but she wasn't going to come back.
But she was safe. And he was safe. Or so it seemed…
"I think I have a concussion," Kyle moaned. The sun already seemed to fade behind a cloud and footsteps tracked through the grass and leaves. Someone should have a first aid kit. People get hurt a lot. They get hurt because of him. And they jump because of him, and he finally managed to help…
"Don't jump again, Jessi."
"Don't drown again, Kyle."
He smiled; relieved to know she was back.
"Foss is over there, he'll bring you home."
"Mkay. I'm just glad you're alive." He felt a small kiss on his forehead, and then she was gone.
