So, after an idea on Skype between myself and some other wonderful Castle fans from Tumblr, this little piece came about. First real Castle fic. Fluffy. Disclaimer: This would have happened already if I worked with Andrew Marlowe...

PS Thanks for the name Kayley!

It was a normal morning at the 12th Precinct.

Kate Beckett was sitting at her desk over a stack of paperwork from the case they'd just wrapped up last night. She always enjoyed that feeling of wrapping up a case. Even if the murder was always tragic, it felt good to give a family justice. She would even admit it gave her peace inside. Just a small piece of the closure she just couldn't seem to get on her Mother's case.

God, that scar seemed to tug a little at that every time she thought about the whole ordeal. And not just about her mother, Castle too.

He had just wanted to help her. He knew what this case would do to her. He loved her. And maybe she'd never admit that she remembered everything. But just knowing made them closer these days.

She found herself becoming flirty. Open. It was something she'd never really done in a relationship. Or whatever it was they had now.

It was coming to a point where she was scared that she would have to define this.

It had become the occasional touch. Then the occasional one-armed hug. Then the occasional full hug. And then...

"Morning." Castle said, walking in with a smile, and thank goodness, her coffee. She accepted gratefully. "Thanks." (She could never not be glad about coffee.)

"I've noticed something." He perched himself on the corner of her desk, instead of his usual chair.

"Well since it's not one of your crazy theories involving one of my cases, go ahead." She could never admit his theorizing was actually kind of cute. It definitely brought a smile to her face during a rough case

.He gave her that 'oh, haha' face, and continued. "We have coffee a lot, you know?"

"Well, yeah."

"So it's become, like, our thing, you could say."

"Um, sure. If that's how you'd like to put it. What's your point?" She had no idea where he was going with this.

"It's not really any point, exactly. I've just noticed stuff. About us, Lately."

"Us..Right." She felt like this was going in an awkward direction.

He just smirked at her.

She raised an eyebrow back.

"You're in your own head again. You don't have to worry about this, Kate." He smiled and kissed her lightly on the lips. "I know you're not ready. The wall isn't down. I'm just making holes to see through."

She just laughed lightly. She could live with that. And she could definitely live with more of that.

She smiled a little wider now. "You taste like coffee." then she furrowed her brow. "My coffee."

Hope you enjoyed! Just a cute little snippet.
