Change of clothes

By Alasse Fefalas

"Lisbon, where are my clothes?" Jane asked groggily.

Sighing, Lisbon bent down and picked up a paper bag off the floor. Placing it on the bed, she fished out four articles of clothing from the bag. "I was deliberating whether to go to your motel to get you a fresh set, but I decided to stay."

Jane took his jacket from her and inspected it. He turned it round his hands, checking for damage to it. "You know, I thought my jacket would have been more damaged."

"The bomb was set off in the other room, which is why you, Smith and Bertram are still alive. You should consider yourself lucky," said Lisbon, crossing her arms.

Jane looked up at her, straight into her eyes. "Yeah, I guess I am."

Quickly, Lisbon turned away. The events of the previous day by the cliffside still fresh in her mind. Walking out, Lisbon said, "I'll wait outside for you to change." Closing the curtains behind her, she sighed. There was no point bringing it up. He would just brush it off again anyway.

"Hey, Lisbon," Jane called from inside the curtains. A small hole opened in the cracks and his head peeked out from behind. "Uhm, Lisbon?"

"What, Jane?" Lisbon replied irritatedly.

"Have you seen my underwear?"

Lisbon's face went bright pink. "Wh-what? Underwear? I don't know? Isn't it inside?" Lisbon sputtered.

Jane's head disappeared from the crack. The sound of paper rustling was loud. Lisbon felt heat rise up her neck as she waited for his answer.

"Oh! I found it!" Jane said happily.

Lisbon felt her face turn crimson red when she heard the giggles of the nurses from the end of the room. Glancing at them, her suspicions were confirmed when she saw them giggling in her direction. Lisbon groaned and covered her face with her hand. If they didn't get out soon, she probably was going to die of embarrassment. Grabbing a handful of curtain, she shook it. "Jane you done? Rigsby might have a lead to where Smith is."

Abruptly, the curtains pulled open. Jane stepped out, dressed, with jacket in hand. "Does it look like I was standing in a room next to where a bomb went off?" Jane asked.

Lisbon took a cursory glance at him. "Looks good enough."

"Good," Jane nodded. "To work then."
