"It couldn't be true. Kimimaro had died?" Tayuya thought with disbelief. Nobody really liked Kimimaro; he was always such a bastard to them. Stuck up, cold, and calculated. Tayuya ran her fingers through her fiery, coral hair. The others of the Sound Four had hated him, but he had been the equivalent of a leader. He was so much stronger, or had been, and his death was almost like an omen of demise. The Sound Four weren't truly bad people, just misguided. Or she wanted to think that, at any rate. Tayuya just couldn't focus on one thought.

They were dying off, one by one. Kidoumaru had been killed by that Hyuuga boy, then Kimimaro. Next would be Jiroubou, then her and Sakon, along with his brother, Ukon. Then Kabuto would be dead, then finally Orochimaru-sama. Tayuya knew it would be this way, but didn't want to think about it, so she pushed it to the back of her mind.

She went to her room, and pulled out her old flute. She began playing a tune, of which there was no name, and was disappointed to hear the depressing tune that emanated from the instrument. Tayuya hated that shitty, sad stuff, and tried to change the chords to a major. It sounded prettier, and a bit more upbeat, so she continued to play. She thought of how painful it must have been for Kimimaro at the point of his death, and to her surprise, she felt her breath catch in her chest.

Her song slowed its tempo a bit, and seemed to transform. The previous tune was weaving itself into a slow, haunting melody as she thought of Kimimaro. Her eyes closed, she tried to block him out of her mind, but failed. Tayuya's breath was not coming fast enough to uphold her lengthy, melancholy notes. It felt like a metal band was tightening itself around her lungs, and was constricting slowly until she died as well, but still she continued to play. A feeling of gloom had settled over her, and she wanted to throw the flute, stomp on it, smash it, just to make it stop. It wasn't just the hideous, yet beautiful melody that was starting to scare her, but the imaginary band that was apparently not leaving as her her mind was dragged to the thought of Kimimaro.

Finally, the last note died away, and she opened her eyes. Tayuya's shoulder's sagged as she felt the breath flow back into her system. She looked up to see Sakon in her doorway, just staring at her with a mixture of amazement and curiosity on his face. "Get the fuck out of here!" Tayuya yelled at him, starting towards the purple haired boy. He just nodded listlessly and turned, very unlike him, leaving Tayuya with the same empty feeling that had been resident ever since Kimimaro's death.
