NOTICE OF ADMISSION
Gryffindor House

Dear Parent/Guardian of
This is a letter of notification to you to inform you that your child/ward, has been sorted into the House of Godric Gryffindor (hereafter referred to as "Gryffindor House"). In his/her seven years in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry (hereafter referred to as "Hogwarts"), your child/ward will spend all of his/her time during curriculum hours with his/her housemate. It is therefore encouraged for your child and yourself to be aware of the history of the Gryffindor House.
The Gryffindor House was founded by Godric Gryffindor when Hogwarts was founded. The founder, Godric Gryffindor, believed that anyone who showed magical ability would be allowed to attend Hogwarts. It will be worthy to note that Gryffindors are known for their courage. The blazon of the Gryffindor House is a lion rampant in the backdrop of scarlet and gold. The colours of the Gryffindor House are therefore, scarlet and gold.
For more information on the history of the Gryffindor House and Hogwarts, we encourage you to purchase a copy of Hogwarts: a History. To order it, please fill out the form attached and send it back through owl post or visit any of the authorized bookstores carrying the book.
In view of your child/ward's current house, there will be a need to purchase a set of blazons, scarves and other required equipment. (See attached for a complete list of new materials needed)
Please be also informed that your child will be not allowed on the Gryffindor Quidditch team yet until his/her second year. Your child/ward will also have the opportunity to become a House Prefect in his/her fifth year.
However, if you feel that your child/ward does not belong in Gryffindor House, you are required to submit in writing an appeal. All appeal decisions are final.

First-year Gryffindor students will require:
Three sets of plain robes (black) with the Gryffindor blazon sewn on (Parents/Guardians are also reminded that sewing services are offered by the School at a nominal fee)
Three Gryffindor scarves
Two Gryffindor waistcoat for male students
Eight pairs of Gryffindor socks for male students
Eight pairs of Gryffindor stockings for female students
Please note that all pupils' clothes should carry name tags.
