Darkness swept through the room as I closed my eyes for the last time
Darkness swept through the room as I closed my eyes for the last time. The last time as a human that is. I remember it completely. It had been raining that day. Renee made it clear that I should be extra careful if I ventured out due to the storm that had been ravaging Forks for the past week. She had been worried about me even then, even when she couldn't have known what danger I would be willingly putting myself into later that day. I told her that I would be fine and that I might not be able to get in contact with her for a few days if the power went out. I told her that I loved her before I hung up the phone and wiped the single tear from my cheek. That was the last time I spoke with my mother.
Saying my goodbyes to Charlie proved to be a little more difficult. I did live with him at the time after all, not to mention the fact that he was the chief of police. I decided that I would pretend like I would see him the next day after a sleep over at Angela's house. That way Charlie would not have any reason to suspect the Cullens for my disappearance. I could not kid myself however; I knew that would be the last time I would have with my father. Before I left I packed up everything that I thought I might want from my bedroom in a single overnight bag. I kissed Charlie on the cheek and hugged him with as much force as I could without seeming suspicious. I looked him in the eye and felt the tears that threatened to fall. Before he could notice I turned and made my way to the door. I left Charlie standing in the doorway for the last time that September.
Edward was waiting for me a little ways down the street. Charlie could not see me with him that day for obvious reasons. Edward had been depressed those last few weeks. He didn't want to go through with it but I insisted. I knew he wanted it as did I but even now he still has his doubts that my humanity was something he had no right to take. He drove us to the Cullen mansion at a normal human speed. Once we arrived we went straight up to his bedroom in silence. Carlsie would wait outside the bedroom in case anything went wrong. I remember looking into Edward's beautiful topaz eyes and communicating with him without words that I was ready. He just nodded his head and pressed his cool lips against mine. I snaked my arms around his waist and pulled him closer running my fingers under his shirt to stroke his back. He gently laid me down on the bed and broke the kiss running a cool finger through my hair and down my warm cheek. His eyes spoke volumes and it was at that point in time that I knew I was right where I was supposed to be and that I was doing exactly what I was always meant to do. A century had separated us at birth but fate had crossed our paths. We were meant for one another and after this one act time could hurt us no more. I knew that he knew this and I felt myself calm at the thought. He brushed his lips against mine once more before fluttering light kisses down my jaw to my neck. He placed his hand on my heart and let his teeth graze the sensitive pale skin on my neck. I felt the sharp pain as his teeth penetrated my flesh. The bite was quick but that's all it took. Edward's venom was now running through my veins like a wildfire spreading through my body.
And that's how it happened. It's been more than a century since my parents died and I still appear seventeen. Edward and I share a connection that no one can quite explain…
"I like it."
I feel him whisper in my ear as I turn around to face him, hiding my story with both hands. He just snickered at me and bent down to kiss me. How does he do that? Even though I'm a vampire I still can't hear him sneak up on me.
