The Long Way Home
Perhaps when we reach our homeworld,
Of our friends we'll say,
How they gave up their very lives,
So we could live another day.
…
We'll speak of deadly space battles,
Of projectiles and shields.
Of our captain and his loyal crew,
Who refused to ever yield.
…
We'll speak of boarding parties,
Of close quarter battles waged.
We'll speak of those who held the line,
Who did their duty, always brave.
…
We'll speak of mercy's moments,
And when justice was dispensed.
Of rebels sometimes heartless,
And those who gave us recompense.
…
We'll speak of them when we reach home,
The living and the dead.
Give thanks to those who gave us hope,
Those who stood firm against dread.
…
But our journey is not yet over,
We must outrun the night.
So our engines we engage,
And go faster than light.
