"Nooroo, dark wings fall!"
Lila Rossi let her transformation fall; her eyes narrowed in frustration again. Another day had passed by and another failure…but that only made her chance of victory in the end stronger.
She tossed a piece of grape to the lavender kwami fluttering in the air behind her. A timid 'thank you, mistress' came from it as it then flew into her purse.
She managed to shuffle her way out of the dank and dingy catacombs of Paris; nobody knew them well as she did. They may not be the most ideal place for a lair but to her queer luck, they managed certainly well.
Lila strolled through the Parisian streets; the sun had fully risen by now. Chatter and gibber filled the streets about her latest akuma: Timetagger.
Timetagger was one of those akumas that gave her hope for victory: she had thought sending him back into the past; into a time where Ladybug and Cat Noir were far too young and inexperienced heroes would give her a chance. However, fate wasn't with her on this one; she knew that it was wrong to underestimate the abilities of Ladybug, Cat Noir and their team of superheroes.
The vast and familiar glass building came into her vision; she scowled at its presence, one she'd have to get used to someday or another as she bears it for a good couple of hours every day.
Lila sat on the desk filling out forms for the next photo shoot. In her teenage years, she wished for the best, she would've expected herself to be a prominent model by now, not someone who was simply pushed out to the side taking pictures of models.
Yes…money, she did get, and she got plenty working for such a renowned company…but money wasn't what she was after. Why, Lila Rossi yearned for power, and a witty brain like hers didn't deserve to be working beneath people. Soon enough she'd show then how worthy she was.
"Mlle. Rossi, the boss would like to see you to discuss matters about the next photo shoot." Anais said formally with a smile, as she stood in front of her tall and feminine.
"Of course, lead the way."
She enabled herself to be escorted with the nice secretary of the boss; she tried her best to conceal that scowl from her.
They had finally arrived to those grand white doors; Anais opened the door for her as she stepped into the room; butterflies of vengeance were stirring in her stomach.
Large windows plastered the walls in sophisticated fashion; her heels pressed in the soft baby pink rug. The room smelled of vanilla and chocolate all in one; it was excruciatingly sweet. The long beige desk was positioned in front of her; and a familiar figure stood leant on its corner.
"Ah…Lila, funny how I haven't seen you in quite a while considering we're in the same building on a daily basis." Marinette beamed as she rushed forward to shake her hand.
Marinette Dupain-Cheng: top designer and founder of DC, she had founded this company of hers a few years ago as she spent her university years working with famous designers like Gabriel Agreste and Audrey Bourgeois. It had rose to success in a course of 5 years; it even gave other famous fashion brands a run for their money. However, it was now known as DCA; as 2 years ago, along with his son, Gabriel Agreste also put her in charge of his fashion company. DCA was a mere product of DC and Gabriel. Marinette was in every magazine these days and the amount of praise she got was simply uncountable; her fame increased even more when she got engaged to Adrien a year ago. Anyways, there was always a thing between them in their teenage years: those goody two shoes were made for each other.
Besides, the secret she knew about them gave her more room to spill dirt on their shoes.
"I know, funny indeed." Lila said in faux benevolence accepting the handshake; trying so hard not to squeeze her hand into pieces in the process.
"Well…Lila as Anais might have told you; I called you hear to discuss the next photoshoot's theme; you know this collection is special for Heroes' Day."
"Ah…of course I do, I've even got the details filled out." Lila proceeded to rant about her thoughts and ideas whilst Marinette proceeded put her input into it.
After an hour of prolonged discussion; everything related to the shoot was finalised. Lila had finally managed to escape that hell of the room and she was back in her little cabin where she could focus on more important of things.
Say, how was she friends with Marinette and Adrien? She didn't know herself; the deep rivalry between her and the former was quite something. But truth to be told, Lila wasn't friends with anyone, she faked friendship and lied about it; lies and a mask were the only things that were honestly real about her and she wasn't even afraid to admit it.
They were too trusting of her; a confession and apology couldn't make her change. After all, how could she ever forgive them as it was their fault that she had to leave. If they hadn't kept their mouth shut; her lies might've never been exposed, it was them who had tarnished her reputation and it was them that had motivated her into becoming Dark Butterfly. Ladybug and Cat Noir, themselves, being the reason to all this chaos…tch…what a shame!
How long had she known…she'd known long enough, of course! It should've been obvious after all they were her only two classmates that knew her truth. This was why she was so much better then Hawk Moth in all ways, or should she say…Gabriel Agreste.
Gabriel Agreste and his son had one strong similarity: both of them were too trusting, believing a deceitful liar like her.
When Mayura also known as Nathalie Sancoeur had fallen; Agreste needed someone else to do his evil bidding thus he entrusted the peacock miraculous to her where she become Le Paon. Lila wasn't a fool to take on the former's title as she deserved a title of her own. Over time, Lila had gained enough of Gabriel's trust and he'd slowly let her on into his secrets. One day, she had really got him, a smirk curled on her lips as she rummaged her memories:
Flashback:
"Monsieur Agreste, serving a master like you is a great honour and I assure you that you'll definitely get your wife back one day."
"Thank you, !" Hawk Moth uttered as he was staring blandly into the window of his lair.
"Monsieur Agreste, I have a small request for you!"
"Yes, , what is it?"
"In return for helping you get the miraculous; I want to ensure the defeat and destruction of Ladybug to full extent, besides, after all the pain she has put you through, don't you think she deserves punishment and I'd like to punish her myself."
"Such little you ask, , of course, I have no use of her after I get the miraculous."
"Wonderful! So, it's a deal then?"
"Deal."
End of Flashback
However, Ladybug and Cat Noir had ruined it all, during the final battle; they had managed to pull Gabriel Agreste back into the good side where they'd revealed their identities. She, however, had faked redemption and apologies; those 2 heroes brought it however and let her go. Marinette and Adrien were fools. Gabriel Agreste was a fool. They trust her with their identities and life when she was the one who's destroying it already.
Abruptly, she felt a tingle coming from the purple brooch she was wearing. Destiny was calling her, and she had a new witty scheme.
"Chaser, it is I, Dark Butterfly, others have been chasing after you too much but now it is time that you chase after others. In return, I'd like-not the miraculous-but I'd like you to capture Cat Noir without grabbing the attention of Ladybug and bring him to me."
"Yes…Dark Butterfly"
Pur-fect! Her plan was in action!
Intended to be a one shot but oh well…I guess it's a two or three shot!
Moreover, I simply refuse to believe Marinette and Adrien are not in relationship regardless of what Bunnix said.
